The race for the World First Kill in World of Warcraft is over – thought the best team. But then came the chilling realization.
In World of Warcraft, the “World First Race” for completing all 3 raids that launched with the Midnight expansion has been running for almost 2 weeks. In the meantime, all major guilds have reached the final boss “L’ura” – the second and final boss of the “March on Quel’danas” and also the final boss of the entire raid tier.
Team Liquid had the lead here and was pushing forward further than all other professional guilds. But at the moment of triumph came the realization – the fight was not over yet.
Secret phase leaves victory cheers choking
What happened to Team Liquid? The pros from Liquid had the lead in the race. In one of their last attempts, they managed to bring L’ura deep into the supposedly final phase. The enrage timer was already close, but with immunity effects, it was possible to bring L’ura’s health points to 0%.
The joy was immense. Players like Imfiredup immediately jump up, the cheers begin. But just moments later, the realization dawns: No success has been granted yet. Was that a bug? An error?
No, it was not: Because L’ura has a secret phase that only occurs at Mythic difficulty. This is a small but crucial detail that no guild knew in advance.

What kind of secret phase is this? After L’ura is defeated in Phase 3, her body reassembles one more time. All health points of the boss are healed – that’s nearly a billion HP. While L’ura hovers above the Dark Fountain, more and more void creatures pour out of the fountain, which the entire raid must avoid. What else happens in this phase is not yet clear – because the group succumbed to the final phase after just a few seconds, having previously reached the “enrage timer” in Phase 3 and only a few even reached the secret phase.
What seems clear, however, is that player characters during this phase have a strong buff that increases their damage dealt. So they don’t really have to whittle down L’ura’s full health points again – but just a fraction of it.
Which guild is currently in the lead? As of now (06.04.2026, 11:00 AM), Team Liquid continues to lead (raider.io). They are the only ones who have been able to progress into the secret phase and brought L’ura here to just under 50%. The competitors from Echo are below 1% of Phase 3 – so just about to reach the secret phase as well. Method is currently lagging behind, reaching only about 50% remaining boss HP in Phase 3.
