Things went wrong with Patch 12.0 in World of Warcraft. Some potions no longer have any effect – they have been drastically scaled down.
Recently, Patch 12.0 went live in World of Warcraft, which is the pre-patch for the upcoming expansion Midnight. Along with it came a so-called “Stat-Squish,” where the values and attributes of characters, items, and enemies were reduced.
A side effect of this: Many items in WoW are now completely useless. You can use them, but nothing happens.
Potions that heal exactly 0 health points – sometimes even negative
Which items are affected? This mainly concerns healing potions from the early levels of World of Warcraft. Affected healing potions include:
- Weak Healing Potion
- Minor Healing Potion
- Refreshing Healing Potion
The same applies to some mana potions.
When you look at the tooltips of these items, you can’t help but smile slightly: Because they restore 0 health points when used. Sometimes even -0, which is a bit more curious.
The potions trigger the cooldown for using potions upon usage, but have no noticeable effect anymore. They are simply useless.
Why don’t the potions heal anymore? This is because there have been several instances of this Stat Squish already. Each time, the healing amount of potions was further reduced, but not in a linear way. Since item levels of items increase exponentially with their effect in WoW, this was also taken into account during the reduction.
This now leads to the absurd situation where there is a whole range of potions that no longer have any effect and therefore serve no purpose at all.
For the sake of fairness, it must be said that these low-level potions have hardly found use in modern WoW anyway, not even during leveling, as they are generally not necessary there. It is still a bit unsettling to have more and more items in the game that can no longer fulfill their actual purpose.
Healing potions are not the only thing that players have to say goodbye to. A whole game mode of WoW will likely never return.
