The Blizzard developers have announced the first new Legendary for WoW: Forever! Taldramir, the Whispering Wood is a two-handed staff that at least all Druids can look forward to.
What is known about Taldramir? Aside from the official presentation on X and YouTube (where you can see how the Legendary is actually crafted), unfortunately not much yet. Taldramir, the Whispering Wood is a legendary two-handed staff that is carried by a Nightborne Druid on the new key art graphic for Forever.
Theoretically, besides Druids, Mages, Priests, Warlocks, Shamans, Hunters, and Warriors can wield such staffs. However, it is unclear what the class restrictions of the weapon will be or if they are directed towards a specific role (such as Healer).
Legendary weapons that are truly legendary
What is special about Legendaries? In the context of classic World of Warcraft, there have only been 4 weapons so far, and these are truly legendary:
- Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros
- Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
- Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian
- Corrupted Ashbringer
What nearly all these items have in common: You cannot just defeat a boss and if you have good loot luck, the iconic mace of Ragnaros ends up in your bag. Legendaries in Classic are community projects that require a long time of effort and significantly impact the performance of the bearer, as well as positively affect their allies.
A tank with the legendary blade Thunderfury, for example, generates extremely high threat, allowing the damage dealers to go all out even more. The owner of the staff Atiesh provides a buff for their group (depending on the class of the bearer).
In addition to the pure power of the weapons, their striking design also stands out. The four Classic Legendaries are prestige items that every long-time WoW veteran recognizes immediately from a distance. In the past, there have been some guild dramas surrounding the question: Who gets Thunderfury or Atiesh first?
Currently, it is also unclear whether Blizzard will make adjustments to the old legendary weapons. Since they are closely tied to the original Classic raids, which are definitely to be changed, this could be the case.
Which Legendaries are still expected to come in Forever? It is clear that Blizzard wants to introduce an earnable Legendary for all classes or specializations throughout Forever. However, the developers have not revealed more details so far. If that changes or more information about Taldramir comes to light, we will update this article for you.
