Those who catch the right fish in the season of discoveries of WoW Classic can easily become rich. However, you need to hurry! The winter season is ending soon, and then the winter squids will disappear from the waters of Azeroth.
What is the gold farming trick about? With winter squids, the cooks of WoW Classic can create Grilled Squids, which increase agility by ten points for ten minutes. For agile classes like rogues and hunters, there is no better buff food in this version of World of Warcraft – even into the endgame.
However, the winter squids can only be farmed during the winter season, which runs from September 21, 2023, to March 21, 2024. After that, the squid will vanish from the waters of Azeroth. Why is squid farming particularly worthwhile in the season of discoveries? Currently, the second content phase is underway in the season of discoveries of WoW Classic. All characters can level up to level 40 and face the challenges valid for this level range.
However, winter squids are best farmed in high-level areas like Azshara, Tanaris, Feralas, or in the Hinterlands. Additionally, you must meet certain fishing prerequisites, which are particularly high for the waters in Azshara (minimum fishing skill 330).
Some players may find this too dangerous or too much effort. At the same time, Grilled Squids can already be consumed at level 35. Thus, the recipe is already relevant for the current endgame phase.
Which items help you?
- The Great Iron Fishing Pole is currently the best available rod in the season of discoveries. For this, you must open crustacean traps in the Hidden Sea (southwest coast of Desolace), and with a bit of luck, you will find the said pole in one of the traps. Alternatively, keep an eye out at the auction house.
- Buy the best possible baits available, like the Aquadynamic Fish Attraction (+100 fishing skill for five minutes) or Bright Baubles (+75 fishing skill for ten minutes).
- Nat Pagle’s Extreme Angler Boots, Lucky Fishing Hat, and Extremely Tested Eternium Fishing Line are rewards from the fishing contest in Stranglethorn Vale, each granting you +5 points to your fishing skill.
- With the Enchant: Gloves – Fishing, enchanters can enchant your gloves for +2 to your fishing skill.
What else should you keep in mind? The winter squids not only appear exclusively during the winter season but also at specific times. The highest catch rates are said to be between 12:00 and 18:00, and between 0:00 and 6:00 the winter squids are not available at all. The only exception is in the Bay of Storms in Azshara, for which you need the highest fishing skill. With that said: Dust off your fishing rod and tight lines!
