In our reputation guide to the Sons of Hodir in WotLK Classic, we show you how to quickly achieve a revered reputation. It includes explanations for the daily quests.
How do you unlock the Sons of Hodir? If you want to unlock the Sons of Hodir faction, you need to visit the Storm Peaks. At the entrance to the zone, you will find the small goblin camp “K3”. There you will meet “Gretchen Whispershimmer”, who asks you to free captive goblins. The quest is called “They have our men!” and starts the series that ultimately unlocks the Sons of Hodir faction.
Your tasks will lead you all over the Storm Peaks, and it’s quite possible that you have already completed some of these quests if you explored the Storm Peaks on your way to level 80. Once you reach the area “Dun Niffelem”, you will have arrived at the right place. Help the frost giants, and you will have unlocked the daily quests. Some fans find leveling in WotLK Classic too hard, but once you have a character at level 80, many things become easier.

With daily quests to a revered reputation with the Sons of Hodir
Once you have completed the quest series and unlocked the faction, you can start with the daily quests. You can initially complete 5 quests per day for reputation with the Sons of Hodir. Four of these quests give you 350 reputation, and one task even rewards you with a hefty 500 reputation points. Once you reach the reputation level “Respectful,” another quest becomes available, which also grants you 350 reputation. In total, you can earn 1,900 reputation daily with these quests, and once you are “Respectful,” even a total of 2,250 reputation.
We have listed the quests below and will explain how to successfully complete the tasks. The quests are all relatively close to each other, so you won’t have to walk long distances, and you should plan about half an hour to complete everything. Because many things, like farming reputation, are not as time-consuming in Wrath of the Lich King as they were in Burning Crusade, WotLK Classic is also fun if you don’t have much time.
The daily quests for the Sons of Hodir all take place in the red marked area of the Storm Peaks. You can also collect “Everfrost Shards” there. The yellow marked areas show the locations where you need to complete the respective quests.
Dragon slaying made easy
The quest “Dragon slaying made easy” is by far the most complicated quest to complete here. However, once you get the hang of it, it’s actually not that difficult.
Head west from Dun Niffelem. There you will find blue proto-dragons – your task is to defeat them. Target a dragon and use the quest item “Spear of Hodir”. The dragon will then grab you and fly into the air. From there, it becomes a vehicle fight which is divided into 2 phases.
In the first phase, you need to reduce the proto-dragon’s health points to 25 percent. You will receive 4 new abilities for this: Dodge the dragon’s claws with the ability “Claw Dodge” as soon as the message appears that it is attacking you, and make sure with “Grab” that you don’t lose your grip. It is important to always have enough stacks of the “Grip” buff active. If this drops to zero, the quest fails. A good guideline is around 65 stacks of the “Grip” buff, so remember to use the “Grab” ability as often as possible.
The ability “Vengeful Spear Thrust” deals a lot of damage, and you should use it as soon as it’s available, as it has a 10-second cooldown. The ability “Spear Thrust” deals only moderate damage and can be used whenever you don’t need to use any of the other abilities.
Once you have reduced the dragon’s health points to 25 percent, the second phase of the fight begins. The dragon will try to swallow you, and you need to escape from its mouth. It is a fight for survival, as you will now constantly take damage. With the ability “Jaw of Death,” the proto-dragon will deal 3 percent of your health as damage every second in this phase.
Use the ability “Wrench Jaw” to stack a buff. This buff increases the chance that your attack “Fatal Strike” is successful. Since your attack has no chance of success without the buff, you should aim to gather around 15 to 20 stacks before using “Fatal Strike.” Once defeated, the proto-dragon falls to the ground, and the quest is successfully completed. For your efforts, you will receive a hefty 500 reputation points.
Spy Hunt
For this quest, you need to search west of Dun Niffelem for the corpse of a large worg. Use the quest item “Fang of an Astral Worg” near it, and a spirit wolf will appear. This will pick up the scent of “Stormforged Spies” that need to be defeated. Repeat this process 3 times, and the quest will be successfully completed, rewarding you with 350 reputation points.
A Dirty Cleanup
Right next to “Spy Hunt,” you can complete the quest “A Dirty Cleanup.” This quest is certainly the simplest daily quest you can do for the Sons of Hodir. To do this, visit the cave located very close to the corpse of the large worg. There you will encounter slimy monsters called “Crude Oil.” You must defeat 5 of these creatures and loot 5 units of “Viscous Oil” from them. The quest is quickly completed and rewards you with 350 reputation points.
Hot and Cold
For this quest, you need to visit the area east of Dun Niffelem. There you will find some elemental enemies called “Fragile Wailing Spirits” on a frozen lake. Defeat enough of them until you have collected 6 “Essence of Ice.” Then head southeast to the place where you will encounter a large anvil and some fire elementals. Use the “Essence of Ice” there to cool down glowing metal parts. After that, you can collect them, and the quest is completed. Again, you will earn 350 reputation points.
Hodir’s Reputation
Go to the area “Thunderfall.” In this impressive place, you will encounter numerous spirits from a long-ago battle. Your task is to defeat 5 “Ancestors of Niffelem” and 5 “Restless Frostborn.” Then use the quest item “Hodir’s Horn” and watch as the spirits find their peace. Upon completing the quest, you will receive 350 reputation points.
Feeding Angrim
This quest only becomes available once you have reached the reputation level “Respectful.” But don’t worry, this quest is also quickly completed. Head back to the area west of Dun Niffelem, where you have already completed the daily quests “Spy Hunt” and “A Dirty Cleanup.” There you will encounter giant worms called “Jormungar.” Target them and use the quest item “Angrim’s Tooth.” Then you only need to defeat the monsters. After defeating a total of 5 monsters, this quest is also completed, and you will receive another 350 reputation points as a reward.
You have already completed the daily quests, but want even more reputation?
No problem! There are still a few ways to gain more reputation. From most enemies in the Storm Peaks, the Halls of Stone, and the Halls of Lightning, you can loot “Relics of Ulduar.” These can be exchanged in Dun Niffelem for 500 reputation for 10 units each. If you have some gold saved up, you can also buy the “Relics of Ulduar” at the auction house.
Another item you can exchange for reputation with the Sons of Hodir is the “Everfrost Shard.” These items look like small icicles and are not easy to find. However, it is worth keeping an eye out for them around Dun Niffelem, as you will receive 350 reputation when you exchange them. In addition to the activities mentioned above, you can earn another 400 reputation points by completing the daily quest for a regular dungeon. You can pick up this quest in Dalaran near the Violet Citadel. Simply choose the reputation token for the Sons of Hodir as a reward.
