Officially, Guild Wars 2 will celebrate its 8th birthday on August 25, 2020. However, some players have received their gift a few days earlier due to leap years. This year, a special birthday infusion is included, much to the delight of many players.
What’s in the birthday gift? Players whose characters are celebrating their 8th birthday will receive, as in every year, a special in-game gift. Those who started during the head start on August 25, 2012, can enjoy this special reward today, as a year in Tyria has 365 days but does not recognize leap years. All others must wait until their first character turns 8 years old.
The gift includes once per account:
- Festive Birthday Infusion – A special infusion that we will introduce to you shortly
- Amulet of Festivity – An Ascended amulet with values of your choice
- Title: Engaged
- Box with a special birthday armor
- Box with a special birthday backpack
- Guaranteed wardrobe unlock
For each character that reaches the 8th birthday, there are also:
- Birthday card – 5,000 Karma
- Color kit of your choice
- Two Black Lion figurines
- Two birthday boosters
- Five teleports to friend
Players are excited about the new birthday infusion
What’s special about the infusion? The festive birthday infusion is an infusion that can be embedded in an Ascended or Legendary amulet. You will get such an amulet as a birthday gift accordingly.
The infusion grants you 15% more Karma and has a very special effect.
In Guild Wars 2, some infusions come with a special aura, such as a otter that circles around you. Some infusions are very rare and quite expensive. But in this case, you get it for free, and it also looks really good!
What does the infusion look like? As you can see in the video, it rains confetti around your character, and that lasts permanently. Additionally, you have a slight purple aura.
The moment you draw your weapon, fireworks also join in. Often, this fireworks also creates a GW2 symbol above your character.
How is the infusion received? On reddit, the infusion is very well received, but only as long as you are not playing an Asura or Charr. With these two races, there are clipping issues.
- With Charr, the aura is hardly visible because it appears behind their neck
- With Asura, the effect is hardly visible due to their size, and it disappears somewhat in the chest.
