Cedar Whip / Kohakunushi
What kind of monster is this? The rough skin and shaggy fur of the Cedar Whip look like wood. Additionally, the Kemono secretes substances reminiscent of pollen and resin.
If the pollen secreted by the Cedar Whip enters the respiratory tract of the Kemono, it must sneeze. When it sneezes, it again secretes resin, which then covers the Cedar Whip’s prey, causing the Kemono to try to clean it off.
Strategy: The pollen of the Cedar Whip can stun you, while the resin secreted by the Kemono hinders your mobility and makes it difficult to dodge attacks.
A weakness of the Cedar Whip is its tail. It is soft and can be severed, reducing the monster’s attack range.
Flower Tail / Hanayadoshi
The Flower Tail is a monster that visually resembles a rat and attacks both humans and smaller Kemono. It consumes enormous amounts of food and is always hungry because the energy absorbed flows into the fruit-like growths at the tip of the Kemono’s tail.
Strategy: In combat with the Flower Tail, you should try to evade the Kemono’s attacks and then counterattack.
Once the flower-adorned rat becomes angry, its tail grows, increasing the range and strength of its attacks. If you flank it afterwards, you can sever the rat’s tail.
MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus has already fought against the Flower Tail. How the battle went can be seen in the video:
Emerald Glider / Tsunobashiri
What kind of monster is this? The Emerald Glider is a flying Kemono that aggressively defends its territory. It dives silently from high stone pillars it has created itself to surprise its opponents.
Strategy: To be successful in battle against the Emerald Glider, you need to destroy the stone pillars from which the Kemono is diving at you. This brings the Glider out of balance and allows you to counterattack.
When the Emerald Glider is angry, its tail gets larger, enabling it to perform a dangerous attack. However, since this enlarged tail is particularly vulnerable to attacks, you can use this to your advantage.
Gold Storm / Aragane
What kind of monster is this? The Kemono Gold Storm/ Aragane visually resembles a saber-toothed tiger with golden fangs and is regarded as the embodiment of the wind in Azuma. It lives at the Gold Sea, a place in the far north.
Strategy: Gold Storm varies its attack speed in combat, switching from sluggish to lightning-fast movements. When it attacks you with its whirlwinds, you should take cover behind objects.
A means to deal damage to Gold Storm and be successful in battle is to act from a distance and use the heavenly cannon.
A fight against the Kemono Gold Storm can be seen in this gameplay trailer:
Gold Spike / Koganebari
What kind of monster is this? The body of the Kemono Gold Spike, also known as Koganebari, resembles that of a porcupine, covered in renewable protective spikes that it can shoot at its prey. However, this massive rodent tends to shoot and lose all its spikes, after which it runs around in a panic.
Strategy: The spikes of the Kemono are extremely dangerous. If it shoots at you, you should take cover behind the shield Karakuri. Alternatively, you can try to anticipate the attacks and dodge in time.
Earth Splitter / Kunin’arashi
What kind of monster is this? The Earth Splitter is a gigantic petrified bear, said to be able to split the earth and devour entire mountains. The body of this massive beast is also much larger than that of all other Kemono.
Strategy: As the Earth Splitter’s skin appears to be made of rock, you won’t deal damage to the monster with regular attacks. Therefore, you must find weak points scattered across the massive body of the Kemono and target them directly.
If you manage to make the Earth Splitter angry, it will reveal another weak point on its head. If you attack this new weak point, you can defeat the Earth Splitter.
However, the 10 currently known Kemono are not the complete list of all monsters that will be available in Wild Hearts at the release of the hunting game. As the developers revealed, over 20 different Kemono are planned for launch:
