For a gold camouflage in Call of Duty, some play for days or even weeks, some players achieved this in Black Ops 6 now in just a few hours.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released on October 25th. In Germany, the first players could access the servers at 12:00 AM, followed by Steam and Battle.net players at 6:00 AM. However, part of the community used an old trick to play before the release.
Some of these early players are now happily presenting the first camos they have unlocked for their weapons. The Twitch streamer “Reidboyy” showed, for example, his first gold camo for the XM4 on October 24 at 2:00 PM German time (via X.com).
At that time, German players officially had to wait at least 10 hours before they could even play.
A special mode is the key to success
How were players able to unlock gold camos so quickly? Of course, the time advantage plays a crucial role, but a specific mode is said to be particularly well suited for acquiring gold camos.
On Reddit, a player, who also presented his first gold camos after just a few hours, explained that he played hardcore in the Gunfight mode – there are no killstreaks, and the maps are smaller and more compact.
Moreover, fewer headshots are required for a kill in hardcore, and you need to accumulate those on your way to gold camos.
What are gold camos? In Call of Duty, you can unlock various weapon camos (in English: camos) for the individual weapons. First come the military camos, which are designed in camouflage colors. Then come the gold camos, whose unlock requires some grinding.
In Black Ops 6, you must first unlock all military camos by achieving up to 100 headshots and then complete the corresponding weapon challenge to receive a gold camo.
For Call of Duty players, earning different camos is part of the annual grind. Whoever unlocks a gold camo wears it with pride and shows everyone what they have achieved. The big goal is to unlock the gold camo for each weapon as quickly as possible and to grind for the diamond and special camos.
