One of the most popular multiplayer game modes, namely Battle Royale, is completely missing from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. So what does the future hold?
This is the current status: Currently, there is no Battle Royale in Modern Warfare yet. While you can play various game modes in multiplayer, Battle Royale is not available.
While Black Ops 4 still had this mode as “Blackout”, Modern Warfare does not offer it. There is also no zombie mode. But could that change in the future?
Battle Royale in Modern Warfare – What is the status?
This is known so far: There is no official information about Battle Royale. The developers stated that the regular multiplayer already offers enough action and that they want to focus on that.
In an interview in August with IGN , Joe Cecot, Multiplayer Design Director of Infinity Ward, talked about this topic and left a backdoor open: “We are big fans of Battle Royale. We are excited about the huge player counts and other things that Battle Royale offers, but currently, we are focused on pure multiplayer.”
Thus, it has not been ruled out that Battle Royale could still come. It was merely stated that they are currently focusing on other things.
What do leaks say? There are numerous leaks regarding Battle Royale in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Two leaks stand out in particular: They come from sources that have often predicted things about Call of Duty that later turned out to be correct.
The first leak comes from YouTuber TheGamingRevolution:
- He claims that Infinity Ward is indeed working on a Battle Royale and is aiming for 152 players. However, they are working on increasing that number to 200.
- Additionally, the map is said to be twice the size of the Blackout map from Black Ops 4.
The second leak comes from YouTuber LongSensation. He is known for his leaks. He states:
- The Battle Royale mode is supposed to be released in 2020, specifically in the spring.
- The mode is expected to be Free-2-Play and available as a standalone game for download.
- However, the Battle Royale mode can also be linked to the base game.
What does that mean for the mode? The rumors surrounding Battle Royale are relentless. If one believes the leaks, next year could be exciting again.
However, there is currently no official information on this. Therefore, one should always view the leaks with some skepticism.
