In the latest ‘Legacy’ video, World of Warcraft shows how Deathwing became what he is – and why he wasn’t really that evil.
Preparations for Dragonflight are in full swing, and Blizzard is releasing more and more material to set the mood for the Dragon Isles. The latest cinematic ‘Legacy: Chapter 3’ has now been released and shows new details from the past of the aspects – and finally reveals why the Dracthyr were locked away for so long.
This is revealed in the latest video: ‘Legacy: Chapter 3’ picks up where Part 2 left off. Nozdormu continues his conversation with Gultthal, a leader of the Dracthyr. Together, they try to understand the moment when the Dracthyr were imprisoned and isolated from the rest of the world.
Nozdormu uses his remaining power to explore Gultthal’s memories. He reveals that Neltharion – later known as Deathwing – possessed an ancient, titan artifact. This artifact allowed him to demand complete unity and loyalty from the Dracthyr.
Neltharion wanted to use the Dracthyr against the Primalists, another form of proto-dragons that hadn’t accepted the Titans’ gift and instead retained a form shaped by the elements. But these Primalists attacked from ambush – led by Raszageth, the Storm Eater. During this attack, the titan artifact was destroyed, and many Dracthyr were killed.
In his despair, Neltharion then decided to give in to the whispers that had been tormenting him for some time. He used the power of the Void to banish Raszageth.
Following this conflict, after it became evident that Neltharion could no longer fully subjugate the Dracthyr, he locked away the remaining Dracthyr and put them into stasis – seemingly forgetting them afterward.
Neltharion was more corrupted than anyone thought: What’s interesting about the video is that it clearly shows for the first time how exactly Neltharion’s corruption actually took place. Until now, it was believed that he was increasingly corrupted over the years. However, it is now evident that he struggled within himself and had to make a decision to save himself and the Dracthyr.
He resorted to the power of the Void and thus the Old Gods to defeat Raszageth after the titan relic had been destroyed. It was thus a decision born out of necessity – which then brought him closer to the corruption of the Old Gods.
What do you think of the latest video? Does it contain exciting new information? Or are you not excited about the story surrounding the Dracthyr?
