At the start of the new expansion Dragonflight, World of Warcraft showcases a new series of short films that tell the story of the dragons and Dracthyr. In the first part, Nozdormu, one of the former aspects, narrates how he and his siblings actually came to their power.
What is this short film about? Following the teaser for the new short film series “Legacies” that was released on October 25th, the first video appeared. Until the release of Dragonflight on November 29th, several more parts will likely be released.
What does the film show? The series is apparently intended to delve deeper into the story of Dragonflight, specifically telling the tale of the new playable race of Dracthyr.
In our special, you can read all the info about the new expansion:
In the first part of the short film series, Nozdormu, the leader of the bronze dragonflight, elaborates on details from his own past.
The old dragon tells a new character named Emberthal, a Dracthyr, about the origins of the dragons. The “proto-dragons” were, according to him, creatures driven by instincts that resembled beasts.

The mightiest among them was Galakrond, who developed such a massive hunger that he devoured even members of his own species. In the end, only 5 proto-dragons faced him, possessing slightly more intelligence than their brothers and sisters:
- Alexstrasza
- Ysera
- Nozdormu
- Neltharion
- Malygos
These 5 were rewarded for their courage by the Titans and ascended to become the first dragons, the aspects, and leaders of their flights with special tasks. The aspects are considered some of the most powerful beings in all of Azeroth.
The entire story can indeed be read in the book “The Fall of the Aspects” by Richard A. Knaak (ISBN: 978-3-8332-2859-9).
Titans and Dragonflight – What’s behind it?
There were already rumors before about the Titans having something to do with the story of Dragonflight. Specifically, they apparently lied to us, the inhabitants of Azeroth. What exactly this entails is something we cannot yet say.
In the coming weeks, more details about the story will likely be revealed. From October 26th, Patch 10.0 will start in World of Warcraft and thus the first step toward the new expansion.
The reaction to the short film has been exceptionally positive. Some users on YouTube are excited to have learned more about WoW’s lore. Others praise the implementation of the story in the short film, and many are simply hyped about the new expansion.
Among those looking forward to Dragonflight is also the somewhat bitter Bellular, who has watched the fourth season of the soon-ending Shadowlands:
