In Valorant update 1.06 has arrived on the servers. It includes a few minor bug fixes as well as a nerf for shotguns. They are now less effective under certain circumstances.
What changed with shotguns? Patch 1.06 was released on August 20 and brought a few small but significant changes. The developers referred to the update as the “Air Shotgun Update” because it was about making shotguns more accurate while jumping than they should be.
Shotguns perform well in situations where they are supposed to, but there have been excessively frustrating moments where players could shoot accurately in the air with these weapons. We hope to avoid some of these cases while still keeping the weapon performance intact when catching an opponent at close range. We will also look into further possible changes to shotguns now that we are well-rested.
The last sentence refers to the fact that the team had taken a break and that the patch therefore arrived on Thursday instead of the usual Tuesday.
As a concrete measure against the excessive accuracy, the dispersion of shotguns in the air has been increased by 0.5, to a value of 1.25. This should make flying shotgun users less effective.
Bug fixes and comfort features
What has changed for the agents: The audio and visual effects for concussive effects (Phoenix Curveball and Breach Flashpoint) should now better indicate when to look away and when to look back.
What has changed for comfort: If you only want to see items in the collection window that you own, this setting now persists between restarts.
These are the bug fixes: These bugs are now gone.
- Possible fix for the bug where the player HUD sometimes disappears.
- A bug in the deathmatch match history and match details has been fixed, which caused ties between 3 or more players not to be displayed as ties, but instead the lowest rank was shown as tied.
- A bug has been fixed that allowed new players to make progress toward competitive matchmaking by losing unranked games.
- Abandoned games do not count towards the requirement for competitive for the team that abandoned.
- A bug has been fixed where ‘<Missing String Table>’ appeared in the chat log.
- A bug has been fixed that caused strange player names to appear in chat when managing group invitations.
- A bug has been fixed that caused some players to miss out on rewards after completing agent contracts or the act battle pass. Playing a game should now grant the missing rewards, including those from Act 1.
What else is fixed? According to the developers, patch 1.06 should also finally fix the terrible exploit that affected the new agent Killjoy. This allowed the German engineer Killjoy to place her turrets under the map Split and wreak havoc on the opposing team through walls. This nasty exploit should now be resolved.
