In a press release, Riot reveals the release date of its new shooter hit Valorant. It is set to launch on June 2, 2020. However, there are also news regarding the currently ongoing beta. MeinMMO tells you what you need to know.
When is the release? Valorant will launch on June 2, 2020, “in most regions worldwide,” as it is said. However, a specific time for the release has not yet been announced.
Valorant will be available for PC. A version for PS4 and Xbox One might be coming, but it may take a while. The information about it is still quite vague.
What changes with the release? Whether and what new content will be available at the release has not yet been revealed to us. However, Riot promises that more will come shortly after the launch, including:
- a new game mode
- a new agent
- a new map
While the new map is likely the leaked map Ascent, the new agent could be the “Vampire” lady Sabine, who appeared in another leak (via dexerto). At least the map seems likely, as Riot has already teased something similar:

As for the new game mode, we can only speculate. Since Valorant is heavily inspired by Counter-Strike, familiar modes from there could be possible – such as the tactical hostage rescue mode or the more casual Gun Game.
Beta progress will be reset
What happens to my beta progress? If you already have access to the beta of Valorant and are playing diligently, you will lose a large part of what you have achieved. All progress will be reset upon the release of Valorant.
This is to ensure that every player starts on the same footing. Your unlocked cosmetics and agents will disappear as well. If you are starting anew, check here, which agents are best suited for beginners.
You will only receive the money issued during the beta back in the form of the corresponding in-game currency. There is even said to be a small bonus for players who purchased currency in the beta (via GameStar).
How long can I still play? The beta ends already a few days before the release of Valorant, on May 28. So, when this article appears, you can still play for another week, after which the servers will be offline for preparation for the release.
How has Valorant developed so far?
Since the release of the beta, numerous bugs have been found and fixed, and the hype has lasted quite a while. In the new, massive patch 0.50, Riot made adjustments to almost everything – maps, weapons, and agents.
However, this has also attracted cheaters. So far, over 8,800 cheaters have been banned, who are now whining pitifully.
Nevertheless, the fuss around Valorant seems to be calming down a bit. On Twitch, the new shooter is only ranked 2nd in the most-watched categories, after “Just Chatting”. The game has lost almost half of its viewers compared to the previous week. However, it is still the most popular among the games. The upcoming release could certainly help with this.
