In Valorant the new Ultra Edition skins called “Elder Flame” have been introduced. They turn your weapons into living, small dragons with stunning animations. But all this fun doesn’t come cheap.
What are the Elder Flame skins? The first skins of the Ultra Edition of Valorant are called “Elder Flame” and fit the theme of the first act, which is simply called “Ignition.” Flames and fire are therefore the motto.
The skins are also fire-breathing, fully animated, small dragons that four weapons in the game transform into. Apparently, the following guns will become furious fire-breathers:
- Vandal
- Frenzy
- Judge
- Operator
Additionally, you can get the weapons in a bundle, and you will also receive a glowing knife and a special finishing animation. If you achieve the last kill of a match, a dragon appears and incinerates the unfortunate opponent!
Elder Flame – Price, Release, and Opinions
When do the new skins come? After being teased on July 7, Riot Games released a full trailer for the Elder Flame skins on July 8. In it, you can admire the stunning animations of the dragons. Pay special attention to how they greedily grab and consume the magazine.
You can purchase the skins on July 10 in the Valorant shop for Valorant Points.
How much will the Elder Flame skins cost? The dragons do not skimp on price. The entire bundle is said to cost 9,900 Valorant Points. That would be about 95 Euros.
What does the community say? This price for the Elder Flame bundle is quite steep at first. In the past, there have been complaints because Valorant offered skins for a lot of money. But back then, they were simple reskins and a few different colors. The current Elder Flame skins play in a whole different league with their animations and sounds.
Therefore, the fans’ anger is somewhat contained. Rather, many players celebrate the skins and simply wish they had more money. Some of the most prominent reactions can be found here:
- “Damn, Riot, my wallet can’t take another hit!”
- “I wish I could return my old skins and buy these instead”
- “Valorant really knows how to make trailers; now I’m hyped for a skin”
- “I thought Valorant wanted to prevent team killing? But if my teammate has this skin …” [one can loot weapons with the skin from dead players in Valorant]
- “Bro, I’m gonna buy that so hard; who needs education when you can shoot with a dragon!”
What is the criticism? Some players on reddit have also criticized the new guns, which has nothing to do with the price. Some complain that the animations seem “disturbing.” And where the hell is the trigger on the little Frenzy? That disturbs some fans even more.
Others are irritated that the weapons wobble and move strangely. And some competitive players complain that one cannot meaningfully distinguish which weapon an opponent is holding with the wildly flapping dragons.
But if you can aim really well in Valorant, then it should still work well even with a living dragon in hand. If you want to know what author Jürgen Horn thinks about the skins, you can find his opinion here:
