The Twitch streamer Summit1g has talked a bit more about Valorant . He revealed that the game is missing a feature that will surely annoy many players, but pleases him.
This is the feature: Summit1g revealed in a tweet that the new Riot shooter Valorant will not offer aim assist for controllers. Anyone wishing to play with a controller will have to do so against players with mouse and keyboard and without assistance.

Actually, details about Valorant are still under embargo, but that doesn’t stop Summit1g from talking about it. He has previously compared Valorant to Overwatch.
What is aim assist? Aim assist helps players aim better with the stick of a controller. For example, it slows down movement speed when the crosshairs are on an opponent or slightly pulls towards their body.
In competitive games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, aim assist is essential for players with different input devices to compete fairly against each other. MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus compared a controller with a mouse in a self-test:

What does Summit1g say? The Twitch streamer seems to feel a certain degree of schadenfreude in his tweet, as he is not a big fan of aim assist. He has made that quite clear before. Aim assist drove him crazy in Halo Reach.
Summit1g is not alone in his stance on controllers and aim assist. Already in 2018, streamer colleague Ninja called for aim assist to be removed in Fortnite.
This is what shroud says about it: The “human aimbot” shroud also responds in a Twitter response. He says that if really skilled controller players put in some effort and train, they could also excel with mouse and keyboard.
However, that may not even be necessary. An especially skilled player in Apex Legends has dominated opponents on PC with his controller even without aim assist. Maybe that will also work in Valorant.

Not much is known about the new Riot shooter yet, and the information is currently still technically under an embargo. However, more and more people are reporting about experiences with Valorant, praising it as a “total hit”.
