Today, on Tuesday, June 9, a new update for Valorant went online, the first since its official release: Update 1.1. This update includes several changes – and yet another nerf for an already frequently targeted agent.
How is Sage being nerfed? With the new Update 1.1, Sage receives only a small adjustment to her abilities. Specifically, it concerns her ability “Barrier Orb (C).” The range of this wall has been reduced from 20 to 10 meters.
This is likely intended to prevent Sage from suppressing her opponents too much without putting herself in danger. Players against Sage now have an easier time punishing her if she plays too aggressively.
Why another nerf? Of all agents in Valorant, Sage is probably the most useful. Her abilities are strong both in defense and offense, making her an almost indispensable heroine.
She is not inherently too strong, but because she is useful in almost every situation, she outshines almost all other agents. In the tier list of agents, she is at the top in the S-tier. Since the beta of Valorant, she has already been nerfed in almost every patch:
- In the very first update for Valorant, the time required to destroy the barrier was halved
- The massive patch 0.50 heavily nerfed the slow orb
- Even in the release patch on June 2, the cooldown of her healing and barrier was increased, and the health points of the barrier were further reduced
Patch Notes for Update 1.1
Changes to the new mode: One of the larger changes occurs in the new mode “Spike Rush”. Here, there are now five random orbs to collect each round. One of them is the “Full Ultimate” orb, while the others are randomly selected from different orb types. There are now three new ones:
- Healing
- Distraction (weakens enemy perception)
- Golden Weapon (weapon hits kill instantly)
Additionally, the HUD for Spike Rush will be improved and players receive one ultimate point for each collected orb. Here’s a bit of gameplay for the new mode:
Other changes from the patch: The other contents of the update mainly consist of performance enhancements, such as fixing FPS issues, and bug fixes.
Furthermore, there are numerous general improvements that ensure projectiles behave more consistently and some adjustments to the display as well as additional features. You can find the full patch notes in German on the official Valorant website.
However, there is currently no information available about some of the bugs that have been troubling the community since the release, specifically those with error codes 29 and 7.
