The new shooter Valorant is currently in a beta phase. You can play on three different maps. Another map has now been shared by a dataminer. Many indications suggest that the leak is accurate.
What kind of map is this? The dataminer named “UlfricTheThird” has published information about a new map with the code name “Ascent” on reddit. This map is said to visually resemble Venice and also contain Italian text and objects.
The dataminer shared the layout of the map, as well as some textures and models present on it.
Since Riot has already incorporated some hints about the new map in trailers and artwork, it is likely that the leak is correct. There have rarely been datamining actions at Riot Games, at least when it comes to League of Legends.
What to expect on the map
How is the map structured? As with the previous maps, there is a base for attackers and one for defenders. The map is labyrinthine and offers multiple paths to get from one base to another or to the bomb sites.
Notably, there are many corners and additional blocks where you can hide and attack opponents from good cover.
Visually, you will find various objects on the map, including tables, Venetian gondolas, or pizza boxes, as you can see in the second image from the dataminer.
When will the map be released? When exactly the new map will be available in the game is currently unknown. However, there has been an announcement that Valorant will be released with 4 maps. Currently, the shooter is in beta.
So it is quite possible that Ascent will soon join Haven, Bind, and Split. There are already some early indications from Riot itself.
Hints from Riot about the new map Ascent
What supports the leak? Already in an early teaser for Valorant, then still called Project A, one could see a canal and below one of the gondolas. It is quite possible that this is how the new map could look.
Additionally, an artwork of Sage has been released where further down it reads “Episode 1 – Rise of Venice” (via reddit).
Currently, Valorant is very popular on Twitch. It is garnering so much attention that #RipFortnite is trending on Twitter.
Many believe that the new shooter from Riot Games could herald the end of Fortnite, especially since the battle royale is struggling with some issues. However, streamer Turner “Tfue” Tenney sees it differently. He believes that kids will not play Valorant but considers it a game for older men.
