After a new patch, the agent Omen became suddenly immortal in Valorant and could teleport through barriers. That wasn’t intended. What initially sounded like a bug on the map turned out to be Omen himself – who was then disabled. All issues should be resolved by now.
What was the issue? The patch 1.07 from September 1 brought numerous changes to the agents of Valorant (via Riot). An unintended change affected the agent Omen, who was not even modified in the patch itself.
Due to a bug, Omen suddenly became immortal. When he teleported to certain locations, he simply could no longer be killed, no matter what was attempted. The reddit user JerryTheCrab1 shows in a short clip what that looked like:
At the same time, a new glitch arose, allowing Omen to overcome barriers even before the start of a round. If he teleported directly on top of a teammate in an elevated position, he could simply ignore the barriers and run across the map before the game started.
Previously, players could access unreachable places with a glitch, which provided unfair advantages. Omen could position himself early in this way – though it probably doesn’t matter much if he can’t die anyway.
On the tier list of agents, Omen likely briefly rose from A-tier to S-tier – or even higher.
Riot disables Omen, brings hotfix
This is Riot’s response: The developers initially thought the issue was a problem with the maps (via Twitter). However, it turned out that Omen himself was the culprit and was quickly disabled on the evening of September 3.
Shortly after, a hotfix was released, in Europe at 5:00 a.m. German time. It brought Omen back into the game, and at least so far (10:50 a.m.) there have been no new complaints about any “game-breaking” bugs with the agent.
If you encountered an Omen during that time that you could not kill, it was probably not a cheater. It was merely a bug that should now be fixed. Such a hack would likely be too obvious as well. Although even some pros cheat so obviously that they are expelled from their tournament.
