This is how the news of her death was announced: The Turkish e-sports team “Unknown Pros” announced on February 9, 2023, on Twitter that the professional player Gizem “Luie” Harmankaya has passed away:
“Unfortunately, we have lost our player Gizem Harmankaya. We express our condolences to her family and all of her loved ones. Rest in peace, Gizem.”
On February 7, YouTuber Tolunay Ören reported on Twitter that he had difficulties reaching Gizem and had no information about her whereabouts. That same day, the Twitter account of Unknown Pros reported that Gizem Harmankaya had been found but was still trapped under the rubble (via Twitter).
Who was Luie? Gizem “Luie” Harmankaya was a Turkish Valorant e-sports player from Kahramanmaraş. She played for the teams Vivace Vista, Galakticos Sirens, and Unknown Pros.
With Unknown Pros and Vivace Vista, she participated in the “Valorant Game Changers EMEA” in 2022 and played against teams such as Oxygen Esports, Sangal Revels, and UNtapped (via vlr.gg)
