The tactical shooter Valorant has received the new update 1.03. This brings a change to one of the less popular weapons: the Guardian. The rifle could now become a real hidden gem for certain situations and playstyles.
What is changing? The new update 1.03 for Valorant changes quite a bit in the game. However, the most important change is the overhaul of the Guardian, one of the rifles in the game:
- Price reduced from 2,700 to 2,500
- Rate of fire reduced from 6.5 to 4.75
- Penetration increased from “medium” to “heavy”
- Input queue updated from 0.083 to 0.1175
Despite the reduction in fire rate, this is a buff for the weapon since it is fired in semi-automatic mode anyway – similar to the FAL in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
The update also brings several adjustments to the maps and to the new mode Spike Rush, as well as some improvements for game quality. For example, you can vote for a task earlier and require less approval.

Guardian – Ideal for Wallbangs?
Here the Guardian is strong: With the new changes, the Guardian is approaching a semi-automatic sniper rifle, a DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle). These are rifles that can instantly kill at long distances with single shots.
Due to its slower fire rate, you are forced to shoot more slowly, which allows for more accurate aiming. The weapon is therefore ideal for any player who likes to play at medium and longer distances but does not want to use sniper rifles.
The damage of the Guardian is higher than that of all other rifles, allowing you to eliminate opponents with fewer hits. Its increased penetration allows for so-called “wallbangs,” meaning killing opponents through walls at certain spots on the maps.
How does it compare to other rifles? So far, the Guardian has been lagging behind compared to other rifles. In particular, the Vandal and the Phantom are top rifles that players generally prefer to use.
However, with the price reduction, it could become a real alternative, especially if you’ve been looking for a strong weapon for a playstyle focused on precise shots at longer distances.
