A leak has revealed 8 screenshots of Valorant. This is the highly anticipated new shooter from Riot Games, the creators of LoL. The shooter was known as Project A but will likely be called Valorant. It is said to be a mix of Overwatch and CS:GO.
Update March 2: Meanwhile, the embargo on Valorant has lifted. We have taken a closer look at the gameplay content of the shooter.
Where are the screenshots from? Apparently, the gaming site IGN made a mistake and released the images too early. The internet journalist Rod Breslau posted them on Twitter.
Press representatives were reportedly already invited to Riot Games to see the game and prepare a report. Supposedly, a press embargo is set to end on Monday morning at 9 AM German time.
Breslau refers to sources that say: Riot Games will soon release more information.
Valorant is said to be as good as CS:GO
What kind of game is this?? Riot Games announced “Project A” or “Project Ares” in October 2019 as one of the 6 new games they have in development. It now seems clear that the game will bear the title “Valorant.” Some social media channels have gone online with this name.
Apparently, the Twitter channel was mistakenly confirmed as “real” by Riot Games too early.
Based on the rumors, leaks, and official information circulating from Riot Games, Valorant is said to be a 5v5 tactical shooter aimed at eSports. It is apparently planned as the “successor” to CS:GO, which is currently incredibly successful on Steam.
According to initial information, Riot Games aims to focus on things that are important to eSports athletes:
- a perfect balance
- a strong gameplay
- and a crystal-clear anti-cheat protection
First first-person shooter pros who played Valorant were excited about the shooter.
Valorant is said to refine the CS:GO formula with skills and individual heroes, as seen in hero shooters like Overwatch.
A screenshot has already been leaked showing the heroine “Sage,” who appeared to be like a support character from Overwatch. According to Riot Games, however, the shooter mechanics will take precedence, with the skills serving as more useful additions.
Why is there so much excitement about the game? Riot Games is known for being able to create major eSports games through LoL. The successful eSports shooters currently available are relatively old, with CS:GO (2012) and Rainbow Six Siege (2015) already established in the eSports scene and the cake already divided. Therefore, “Project A” is eagerly awaited by shooter experts.
A well-known CS:GO player has already announced that he will quit CS:GO to fully concentrate on the shooter from Riot Games.
Whether the leaks and what is rumored about Valorant are really true will likely be revealed in the coming days.
