In Valorant there are new premium skins for your weapons. The so-called “Ruination Skins” are stylish and look cool, but according to Twitch streamer shroud, they are actually “Pay2Lose”.
What are these weapon skins? Once again, there is a premium skin bundle for the weapons in Riot’s team shooter Valorant. The Ruination Bundle does not bring any crazy dragons as weapons, but the weapons have stylish animations and sound effects. The bundle includes skins for the following weapons in the game:
- Ghost
- Phantom
- Guardian
- Spectre
Additionally, there are spray logos, cards, a weapon charm, and a sword as a skin for the melee knife. All together, it is available for 8,700 Valorant Points (the premium currency in Valorant). That is around 90 euros, depending on the exchange rate!
Are the skins a good idea?
That’s why shroud calls them “Pay2Lose”: The pro gamer and Twitch streamer shroud has looked at the new skins and reflected on them. In a video, he states clearly: “If you use these skins, then that’s definitely Pay2Lose”.
The reason for this bold statement is that the skins with their additional effects are very conspicuous and distract from the gameplay. In addition, they have different sound effects and are therefore louder and audible for longer than the vanilla version or other skins of the same weapon.
Since it is important in Valorant to play tactically and be as quiet and inconspicuous as possible, such flashy skins actually contradict the philosophy of the game.
These skins are cool, but you don’t gain any advantage. All you get is a skin that looks really cool, but you have a disadvantage when they are so loud and annoying that they jump right in your face with the effects and all the stuff.
That’s why he buys them anyway: Nonetheless, vanity prevails for shroud, and he ultimately spends the 8,700 Valorant Points on the bundle and gets the skins. His reasoning: “They look so damn cool, so I’m just gonna buy them damn it.”
The relatively high cost for the bundle should not be a problem for successful streamers like shroud. He has also paid over $13,000 for a private jet just because he had to quickly get to a raid in WoW Classic.
