For a long time, it seemed that the Twitch streamer ahmpy could take the World First in the race to level 60 in WoW Hardcore Classic Fresh. In the end, he only got “the lady”.
WoW Classic Ha … what? Blizzard launched the “Anniversary” realms for WoW Classic a few days ago, allowing the many fans of the vanilla version to start from scratch once again – on normal servers as well as in the Hardcore variant.
Of course, the classic enthusiasts are having fun competing against each other while leveling up this time as well. The race on the Hardcore servers is particularly challenging, as every visit to the spirit healer means an immediate end to the adventure. And in WoW Classic, one mistake or a server hiccup at the wrong time can lead to death.

Bitter end, but still a happy ending
For a long time, it seemed that the streamer ahmpy (Twitch) would win on the Hardcore servers. However, at level 54, the Mage’s journey unexpectedly ended when he was killed while XP-farming in the Plaguelands due to a brief connection drop – as this clip on Twitch shows.
The beneficiary of the spirit healer visit was the streamer zeroji (Twitch), who was in 2nd place with his level 52 hunter and secured the first level-up to 60 after three days, 22 hours, and 34 minutes.
However, in the end, ahmpy still had a reason to celebrate: Between pulls, he proposed to his fiancée. His comment about that on X: “I asked her during the summoning so I wouldn’t lose time for the World First.” But that didn’t stop her from saying yes.
Ahmpy was not the only hardcore player who had to face demise in the last phase of leveling. The rogue Lmgdx fell at level 52. The hunter Shankle went down at level 51.
