A streamer on Twitch was called by Papaplatte. He told him about his plan in League of Legends, but his colleague gave Papaplatte a clear and understandable answer.
What is Papaplatte’s plan in LoL? Papaplatte, also known simply as Kevin, wants to eventually create a big “League of Legends” week. He hopes to climb the ranks, from his current rank of Bronze 3 to Gold in Solo Queue (1 to 2 players) or to Platinum in Flex Queue (3 or 5 players).
Which Twitch streamer did he ask? Papaplatte asked his Twitch colleague Krokoboss, who had streamed several thousand hours of League of Legends on his channel: “Is that possible in a week?”
In the same sentence, he raises it to 10 days for a higher chance. Kroko’s reaction is a hearty and extensive laugh at Papaplatte (youtube.com).

Papaplatte is laughed at for a good reason
Why is Kroko’s reaction justified? Climbing the ranks in League of Legends is no walk in the park. There are 4 divisions in the first 7 ranks (Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, and Diamond). Papaplatte is currently Bronze 3. For each division, you need 100 League Points (LP). You earn these LP by winning a ranked match and lose them accordingly if you suffer a defeat.
How many games does Papaplatte need to reach his Solo Queue goal? Unfortunately, there is no official average number of LP that he gets per won game. In the subreddit for jungler mains the user blahdeblahdeda writes the following about the number of LP:
“Normal” is +15/-15. This is the case when your rank and your MMR are equal. There are slight fluctuations from this, depending on the MMR values of both teams.
If we calculate with the “normal” 15 LP for a win, Papaplatte would need only 47 games from Bronze 3 to Gold 4 (about 700 LP). This of course assumes a 100% win rate. That is probably a dream for every LoL player and remains so in most cases.
A realistic win rate would be 60%. In this case, Papaplatte would need “only” 235 games, with 141 wins and 94 losses. That would be 2,115 LP from wins and 1,410 LP from losses. If Papaplatte wants to play 10 games per day, as he says in the video, he would need almost 24 days to earn 700 LP from Bronze 3 to Gold 4. These calculations are of course purely theoretical.
The LP vary greatly due to Riot’s system
How do the LP vary due to Riot’s system? On their official website, Riot has published some information about MMR (Matchmaking Rating), rank, and LP. Your MMR is a value that you as a player do not know and that places you on a ranking list. This way, you are matched with similarly skilled players to ensure a fair match.
The LP serve to bridge the gap between your MMR and your rank. If your MMR is higher than your rank, you receive more LP than usual. If your rank fluctuates near the MMR, there are fewer LP. Riot has released a nice YouTube video to visualize this system.
Perhaps Papaplatte could manage it with the new WASD control if it comes to the official servers.
