What kind of opponent is this? The Tree Sentinel is a large knight in golden armor. He is armed with a halberd and a great shield. He also rides an armored horse.

- He is one of those typical bosses found in other games like Dark Souls or Bloodborne.
- You encounter them early in the game, and they directly show the player what to expect: A lot of hits to the face and many falls into the grass.
- Many of these enemies can be simply avoided. The Tree Sentinel doesn’t have to be fought immediately.
Elden Ring has, like the other games from FromSoftware, a challenging difficulty level and dying on screen is almost part of the gameplay.
Enemies and bosses are not always easy to take down, and they continually test the players’ skills. The Tree Sentinel is one of the first big hurdles in the game, and the streamer Disguised Toast noticed that as well.

He wanted to find out and needed 4 hours and numerous attempts before he could finally take down the Tree Sentinel.

4 Hours of Fighting the Tree Sentinel – For a Weapon He Can’t Use
What happened? The streamer started with the Samurai class and encountered the Tree Sentinel after the tutorial. After he was taken down a few times, the streamer simply refused to give up and aimed to defeat this enemy at any cost.
He persisted and tried for a solid 4 hours, getting better and better, and ultimately managed to kill the Tree Sentinel.
“I did it, we can play Elden Ring,” Toast exclaimed after the success. He rested at a Site of Grace and then checked his reward.
His euphoria, however, didn’t last long. The reward is the Golden Halberd. While it is a powerful weapon, it has high attribute requirements and scales primarily with Strength and Faith.

Your skills in Elden Ring are distributed across 8 attributes that influence different characteristics and can be increased through leveling up. These are:
- Vigor: Affects health points, fire resistance, and poison immunity.
- Mind: Affects FP (mana) and focus-related resistance. Important for magic and spell builds.
- Endurance: Determines your character’s stamina and increases physical defense. High stamina helps with dodging and blocking.
- Strength: Required to wield heavy weapons. Also increases the maximum equip load.
- Dexterity: Required to wield advanced weapons. Reduces casting time of spells, mitigates fall damage, and increases stability on horseback.
- Intelligence: Increases the power of intelligence-scaling spells and improves magic resistance. Also allows for more frequent spell casting.
- Faith: Required to perform summons. Also enhances summons that scale with faith.
- Arcane: Affects resistance to death and certain spells and summons.
As a Samurai, Disguised Toast had a completely different build. Furthermore, the weapon’s requirements are so high that none of the classes at the start are able to equip the weapon normally.
As a result, the streamer was understandably disappointed: “What did I get? A golden halberd that I can’t use.”
Nevertheless, this reward is not entirely in vain. He can adjust his build during the game, so he might be able to use the weapon later.
