Errors in Pokémon GO can repeatedly cause frustration for trainers. This is evidenced by a recent example that cost some trainers valuable resources.
Errors in Pokémon GO occur repeatedly, causing issues. Some errors are so annoying, that affected trainers receive compensation.
Now there was a small error that had expensive consequences for some trainers. Fortunately, if you play in Germany, you should not be affected by this.
Incorrect text causes wasted candies
What was the error? The error concerns the final steps of the special research on Keldeo, which were recently released. In step 7 of 8, you will receive the task to perform 30 power-ups on Pokémon.
In New Zealand, where new updates and content for Pokémon GO always appear first, the task initially had a different description. There it stated that trainers should perform 30 power-ups specifically on Keldeo, which costs not only a lot of stardust but also the valuable Keldeo candies.
Since Keldeo is a mythical Pokémon that you cannot catch in the wild or in raids to obtain additional candies, power-ups on this Pokémon are particularly rare and valuable.
If you use the Pokémon as your buddy, you can receive additional candies – however, you normally need to walk 20 km to get one single candy. If you also use the item Knursp, you still need to cover 10 km for one candy.
It is understandably frustrating when candies are used for power-ups that are not necessary. Additionally, this may cause Keldeo to exceed the CP limits for certain battle leagues where trainers might have wanted to use the Pokémon.
What does the community say about this? Trainers who have already leveled up their Keldeo to complete the special research and used the candies they received during the research are understandably upset.

- “Same boat, really disappointed in the waste of candy and stardust for something broken. My keldeo was not high enough stat for that to be worth it. This is one of the times I really hope we get some kind of *genuine* compensation” writes eggs-pedition.
Will there be compensation? Whether the affected trainers will be compensated and in what form is still unknown.

The first event of the new season has also been announced and will give you an improved chance of catching strong shiny Pokémon as well as a new Pokémon: Pokémon GO allows you to catch 2 of the strongest and most popular Pokémon more easily as shiny, but you need to hurry.
