In Pokémon GO you can suggest new PokéStops. A trainer shows how much an area can change and gives tips.
PokéStops are an important part of Pokémon GO. Here you can not only obtain new field research and deploy lures, but also collect important items that you need in the game. These include balls, items to heal your monsters, and berries.
A trainer shows on Reddit how he was able to unlock a lot of new stops in the game in no time. He also gives direct tips on how you can do that too.
S2 cells and how they work
What did the trainer do? As the trainer explains in his post on Reddit, he has submitted more than 50 PokéStops in an area since the beginning of the year. While many trainers repeatedly have issues successfully submitting PokéStops, a large part of the trainer’s submissions have already been successfully accepted.
This ensures that a variety of new PokéStops have emerged in the area. You can see the before-and-after comparison in his post on Reddit:
What are S2 cells? According to the trainer, there is an important mechanic that you fundamentally need to consider when submitting new stops. These are the so-called S2 cells. They are a mathematical mechanism on which the world of Pokémon GO is built.
These S2 cells have different levels with varying sizes. For submitting new PokéStops, the cells at level 17 are relevant. In such a level 17 cell, there can only be one PokéStop.
So if you want to submit a stop and there is already a stop in the level 17 cell, the new stop will not be approved. A map where you can look at the different cells can be found at vesoyu.github.io. You can select the level size you want to display using the button in the top right corner of the map.
While one PokéStop per level 17 cell is allowed, level 14 cells define the number of gyms in an area. A level 17 cell consists of 64 level 14 cells. The number of gyms that can exist in a level 14 cell is defined as follows:
- 1 PokéStop → 0 Gyms
- 2–5 PokéStops → 1 Gym
- 6–19 PokéStops → 2 Gyms
- 20–34 PokéStops → 3 Gyms
Once the corresponding number of PokéStops in a cell is reached, one of these stops will automatically become a gym. Trainers have no influence over which stop becomes a gym.
So make sure when submitting in advance that there is not already a stop in the level 17 cell where you want to submit a stop. More detailed information about the cell system in Pokémon GO can be found at pokemongohub.net.
What else does the trainer recommend? In addition to the necessary foundational knowledge about S2 cells, the trainer also recommends joining the Wayfarer Community. Here you can get more help from the community to have your PokéStops approved.
How can I submit PokéStops? If you want to submit PokéStops yourself or help get submitted stops approved, you can do this at Niantic Wayfarer. To do this, you need to have reached level 35 in Pokémon GO.
