Tomb Raider: Plot and Cast
What is Tomb Raider about? Currently, nothing is known about the specific plot. However, Amazon describes the series on the official website as being based on the video game franchise. Whether this means we will experience the beginnings of Lara Croft similar to the 2013 reboot, or accompany an experienced archaeologist, is left open in the description.
The series is developed and written by British screenwriter and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She was the creative force behind the series Fleabag and also wrote the script for James Bond: No Time To Die. The author is known for her tongue-in-cheek humor, complex characters, and a feminist touch. How much this will be reflected in Tomb Raider remains to be seen.
Regarding her work as a showrunner, Waller-Bridge said:
If I could tell my younger self that this is happening, she would probably freak out. Tomb Raider has taken up a large part of my life, and I feel incredibly privileged to bring it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as it does to many others, and I can’t wait to embark on this adventure. With bats and everything.
