You have recently started with Throne and Liberty and are looking for a German guide for a build with the new weapon spear that will serve you well after the leveling phase? MeinMMO has a strong recommendation for you!
With Update 1.10.0, the spear (in English: Spear) celebrated its premiere in Throne and Liberty. As new weapon types in the MMORPG from NCSoft and Amazon Games should be treated like their own classes, the long staff with the tip opens up new, exciting build opportunities.
We present you with a simple yet powerful build for beginners. You can find alternative build suggestions for damage dealers, healers, and tanks in the following articles:
- Build for healers in Throne and Liberty
- Build for tanks in Throne and Liberty
- Build for DDs in Throne and Liberty
- Beginner build for the leveling phase
All builds rely on strong yet relatively easy-to-play weapon combinations and shine especially in PvE challenges for groups like dungeons and raids.
This trailer gets you ready for the adventure in Throne and Liberty:
“Spear Build” with spear and two-handed sword
In our tier list for the builds from Throne and Liberty, the combination of spear and two-handed sword ranks at the top in both PvE AND PvP, specifically in the A-tier. With both melee weapons, you can deal high damage, effectively control groups of enemies, serve as a tank when needed, and farm or level efficiently.
Advantages of the build:
- Strong area damage
- Many control options
- Versatile and flexible
- Easy to play
Disadvantages of the build:
- Other builds achieve higher single-target damage (for example, against bosses)
- Two-handed sword and spear have different melee ranges
How to increase your stats
Mobility and strength are essential for this play style. The focus should be on unlocking the bonus for strong attack with 50 strength. The more points you invest in mobility afterwards, the better. If you have mana issues, it might be worth investing a few points in wisdom. Additionally, it can be a sensible alternative to take the increased buff duration of 5 percent via perception (at the cost of mobility).
Selection of active skills
Use the following active skills with the specified enhancements:
- Defense: Patient Block
- Slaughtering Bow (with Burning Bow, cooldown, and damage increase)
- Falling Axe Blade (with cooldown reduction and area damage)
- Willbreaker (with damage area change)
- Tempestuous Wrath (with Phoenix Barrage and Critical Aftereffects)
- Abyss Splitter (with Rising Split and Critical Split)
- Death Strike (with Charges Damage and cooldown reduction)
- Smashing Spear (with Spear Inferno)
- Ascending Blow (with Explosive Damage)
- Stunning Strike (with increased damage)
- Unyielding Guardian (with Guardian Bastion)
- Ruthless Wrath (with Explosive Wrath and damage increase)
- Precision Sprint
Selection of passive skills
You can activate up to eight passive skills at level 50. Here is our recommendation:
- Impressive Form
- Surge of Malice
- Deadly Wrath
- Revengeful Blow
- Robust Constitution
- Cold Warrior
- Vital Force
- Moral of the Victor
How to upgrade your skills
Throughout the leveling phase, you can upgrade your skills using growth books. Prioritize the skills as follows, bringing the mentioned abilities to blue before aiming for the purple levels:
Active Skills:
- Death Strike
- Falling Axe Blade
- Ruthless Wrath
- Smashing Spear
- Slaughtering Bow
- Ascending Blow
- Stunning Strike
- Abyss Splitter
Passive Skills:
- Robust Constitution
- Vital Force
- Cold Warrior
- Moral of the Victor
All other skills you use can be upgraded afterwards at your own discretion.
The best weapon masteries
Put enough points into Destroy and Duel for the spear to reach the last talent in each. This leaves only one point over for Storm. You only continue down this branch if you want to give up a better tank in exchange for max. health.
For the two-handed sword, almost all points go into the two lower branches as well. Firm Determination and Stinging Blindness are simply too good to pass up. The last point goes into Storm (ranged defense) due to lack of alternatives.
Playstyle for boss fights
Begin each fight by strengthening yourself and your allies with Unyielding Guardian. Then follow up with Precision Sprint to increase the chance of high melee damage. With Abyss Splitter, you shock your target next, followed by a Falling Axe Blade.
Next come Willbreaker, a second Precision Sprint, and the switch to the spear. Now let Slaughtering Bow, Stunning Strike, and Tempestuous Wrath follow. The conclusion of the rotation consists of Ruthless Wrath, Smashing Spear, and Ascending Blow.
If you just want a quick rotation for area damage situations, focus on Unyielding Guardian, Precision Sprint, Falling Axe Blade, Abyss Splitter, Tempestuous Wrath, Ruthless Wrath, and Smashing Spear.
