What is the GeForce RTX 3080?
The GeForce RTX 3080 is a model from the GeForce 30 series. It officially launches on September 17, 2020. Nvidia announced the series on September 1.
This is what the Nvidia RTX 3080 offers: In addition to very fast and exclusive GDDR6X memory, the RTX 3080 also includes features like HDMI 2.1 and PCI-Express 4.0. It has the best prerequisites for 4K gaming.

Nvidia has raised expectations a bit too high for our taste. But that doesn’t change the fact that the RTX 3080 is an extremely fast graphics card that allows for FPS numbers as high as no other GPU, especially with ray tracing – until the significantly more expensive RTX 3090 appears in a few days.

What can be derived from the tests? The new graphics card from Nvidia easily outperforms AMD’s current generation and can also hold its own against its previous Turing generation without any problems. Overall, Nvidia has launched its fastest gaming graphics card to date.
GameStar criticizes that Nvidia has still promised too much overall and that the coils are audible. PC Welt criticizes the overall high noise level under heavy load. Furthermore, to achieve strong performance, one must also accept high power consumption, which necessitates a strong power supply.
Also in terms of price-performance ratio, the testers agree: While the previous generation cost over 1000 Euros, you pay only 700 Euros for almost 30% more performance (compared to the RTX 2080).
RTX 3080 Benchmark: How does the graphics card perform in games?
Where does the benchmark come from? The benchmark comes from the official GeForce RTX 3080 test by GameStar. The testers created a performance rating derived from the average of several games. This way, the performance of the graphics card can be best compared.
What’s noticeable in comparison to Nvidia: The leap to the old 20 series is particularly noticeable in the area of 4K: While the RTX 3080 is only 7% ahead of the RTX 2080 Ti in Full HD, the performance difference in 4K is already 31%.
What’s noticeable in comparison to AMD: The comparison to AMD’s last generation is even more drastic. While the RTX 3080 is about 45% faster in Full HD, it is nearly twice as fast (98%) in 4K.
