Even nearly two and a half years after release, Diablo 4 still attracts new players. One of them recently felt completely bored with gaming, but now he is finally having fun again because the ARPG doesn’t overwhelm him.
Diablo 4 excites not only gamer dads who want to casually smash some demons after work, but also casual players. The ARPG is significantly less complex than Path of Exile 2 and is perfect for anyone who just wants to slash for a few hours.
On Reddit, a player is now reporting that he is just starting with Diablo and is having a lot of fun. Previously, he tested various games, but none really held him. With Diablo 4, that has changed.
What does he like so much about Diablo 4? The player TheShadowWanderer has never touched a Diablo game before. Thanks to an offer from PlayStation+, Diablo 4 landed on his console and immediately hooked him. He mentions several reasons for this in his Reddit post:
- He was able to create his own character.
- The wizard and especially fire spells are extremely fun for him.
- The gameplay loop brings him joy.
- The story and the open world feel engaging without being overwhelming – that’s different in many open-world RPGs.
- The isometric perspective feels refreshing.
Diablo 4 is a pleasant experience after Elden Ring and Skyrim
What games has he tried before? TheShadowWanderer describes that he was totally “burned out” recently. He finished Elden Ring, and that left him drained. “I just didn’t have enough motivation to come back and didn’t want to force the experience,” he explains.
He also tried Skyrim: “After about 30 hours, the outdated gameplay felt very stale, and I’m not sure if I will ever finish it. I feel like I spend more time in menus than in the actual game.”
In comparison, Diablo 4 is a pleasant experience for him, for which he is very grateful. He may not know the older Diablo titles, but Diablo 4 has made him curious about maybe trying Diablo 2 and 3 as well. He doesn’t understand all the “hate” around Diablo 4. The ARPG helps him regain the joy in his hobby.
“The salt level is epic”
What do other players recommend? Under his post, he finds plenty of support. Many suggest that he simply enjoy the game at his own pace. Others advise him to definitely try Diablo 3 as well. daojuniorr writes: “Diablo 4 is closer to Diablo 3 […]. Try Diablo 3 if you get the chance. The endgame and the gameplay there are better. My favorite and the best game is D2, but you need patience for that.”
Zajo_the_Lurker recommends him to avoid the Diablo 4 subreddits to not spoil his good mood: “The salt level here is epic.” Also, friscom99 writes: “Don’t let the haters influence you. Diablo 4 is a solid game. I come back every season and have a great time.”
It is completely normal for many players to return to new seasons in Diablo 4.
