ESO Greymoor has launched, the new addon of the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. And players are currently especially excited about the in-game intro, which strongly resembles TES 5: Skyrim.
What happens in the intro? Your hero awakens in a cart. The driver greets you with the words: “Hey, you’re finally awake!” In German: “Hey, endlich seid ihr wach!”
Afterward, you see some impressions of the area Western Skyrim, and then you experience a brutal attack on the cart that starts the story.
Why is this so good? Those who know The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim from 2011 experience a deja vu. Because Skyrim begins almost identically. In Bethesda’s single-player RPG, you also awaken in a cart. However, a fellow traveler speaks to you with the words “Hey, finally you are awake!”
MeinMMO author Jürgen Horn tells about his first time with Greymoor:
I, Jürgen, just wanted to check if the game was running yesterday. When I started the game and the intro suddenly appeared, I seriously had to think about whether I had accidentally started Skyrim. I was really dumbfounded for a few seconds.
Der Jürgen
In contrast, Andreas Bertits, the author of this news, of course saw through it immediately and understood what was going on!
Players had already joked that the expansion Greymoor would definitely start similarly to Skyrim and that it would be funny if the player wakes up in a cart. There is even a funny meme that you can check out in the official forum.
What do players think of the intro? This homage to Skyrim is well received in the community. Players feel immediately put in the right mood and the familiar atmosphere sets in right away.
- Aelarr writes on reddit: “We joked about it and they actually did it.”
- DeliciousEnergyDrink says: “I almost expected it, but I had to laugh when I started the game and saw the intro.”
- Lord-Treesus-Christ writes: “They did it. They turned the meme into reality. Those glorious scoundrels.”
- TheAngryChickenWing ironically says: “This is not immersive enough. The cart doesn’t glitch and doesn’t spin in circles, as it did in Skyrim.”
- hufflepuk explains: “I am so excited because they actually did it. This is all I ever wanted from the Greymoor intro.”
What do you think of the intro of ESO: Greymoor? If you can even play at all. Because the MMORPG faced some significant issues at launch. Zenimax is, however, working to get everything under control. The launch of an ESO addon indeed attracts many players, which overloads the servers.
