The new season for New World is just around the corner. On March 12, 2024, the Season of the Guardian will be coming to the MMORPG. Among the new features, one is likely to particularly please the fans.

What’s behind the controller support? With the new season, the MMORPG can finally be played without significant limitations using the controller. Until now, it was possible to start the game via Steam with the controller, but this was not recommended by the developers.
The issue was that there were no default settings for controllers. Players had to manually map every button to the controller. However, with the new season, fans can choose from two pre-set controller layouts.
Furthermore, there are new features that support the use of the controller:
- Support for targeting ranged attacks
- Slow speed of the crosshair when aiming at a valid target
- Improved accessibility features such as quick access to emotes, combat skills, and other actions
In addition, there are some features that can also be used by players with mouse and keyboard. These include targeting enemies, using the camera’s view direction for melee attacks, and free movement.
When will the updates arrive? The mentioned features will launch together with the Season of the Guardians on March 12, 2024. Those who want to test the updates beforehand can do so starting tomorrow. Amazon Game Studios will open the public test area on February 14, 2024.
