The 11th expansion of The Lord of the Rings Online is called Morgoth’s Legacy. Since yesterday, players can dive into the new adventure and confront the Lord of all Evil. A new launch trailer gives the first impressions.
What does the trailer show? The launch trailer begins with a ride across vast meadows before getting straight to the point. Undead rise and present brave adventurers with new challenges. The gaze sweeps over the new areas – the lands of Near Harad. These are located to the east of Umbar and allow players to explore the regions of Shagâna.
Epic battles and grim foes are shown, waiting to be defeated by you. Perhaps you want to side with the locals, as you will face Morgoth’s legacy and the origin of all evil.
A dark nightmare awaits you
What does the expansion bring? Morgoth’s Legacy continues the story of “The Song of Waves and Wind” (which you can read again on lotro-wiki.com) and takes you from Umbar to the desert of Harad. From there, you can expect scorching deserts, dark swamps, and petrified forests.
New types of enemies, collectibles, and over 350 new quests are waiting to be collected and solved by you. You can hunt traitors throughout the new expansion, forge new alliances, or solve old secrets. But time is running out, and a dark evil threatens Middle-earth.
Who is Morgoth, anyway? To understand the extent of the threat in the new expansion, it is important to know who your adversary is. Morgoth’s name is Sindarin and means something like “Black Enemy”; he is also known as Melkor.
He was originally one of the Ainur (you can read more about this at lotr.fandom.com) until he surrendered to his desires for omnipotence and plunged humans and elves into war. He wanted to be the sole ruler of Middle-earth and earned the title “Lord of all Evil” through his atrocities in Arda. And this evil must be confronted in Morgoth’s Legacy.
