The upcoming action RPG Elden Ring has finally revealed information about the multiplayer mode. The info was shared during the Summer Game Fest 2021.
Shortly after the first gameplay trailer for Elden Ring was shown, there was more information about the multiplayer mode.
In a small info box, it was clearly stated: “Traverse the stunning world on foot or horseback, alone or online with other players, […]” This is a clear indication of an online co-op mode with more than one player.
Online multiplayer for 4 players?
What will the multiplayer look like? According to another press release (via Gameradar), the group size is expected to be a maximum of 4 players. However, Bandai Namco has not explicitly confirmed this, and the press release is not yet available to MeinMMO. It is also still unclear if there will be PvP and how exactly this multiplayer mode will function. However, according to the developers, more information will be released over time, so stay tuned.
It could be that it involves the mode known from Dark Souls, in which you could “summon” players into your game world, which was somewhat cumbersome.
MeinMMO has reached out to Bandai Namco to learn more about the co-op mode.
Players are excited
What do the players say? The news about the multiplayer has thrilled many fans. Therefore, various praises and cheers emerged on Twitter:
- Trevor: “Now we can suffer together, ha ha!”
- Big Box: “This is essentially Dark Souls 3.0, I’m in!”
- CW: “I really hope it’s not like the Souls Co-op”
What is Elden Ring actually? Elden Ring is an action RPG from the creators of Souls, FromSoftware. As expected, it is dark and gritty. Everything is broken and dangers lurk everywhere.
