The developers of the sandbox MMORPG Albion Online have now presented the revised combat system in more detail.
In Albion Online, there are no predefined classes. You determine your role through your equipment. If you wear armor and carry a sword, you are a warrior. If you take off your clothes and grab a pickaxe, you are a craftsman and gather resources. This classless system is also transferred to the combat in the game. During the summer alpha, testers could already try out this combat system.
A lot of feedback from this test has now led the developers of Albion Online to expand the combat. In particular, armor and weapons are supposed to be given more variety and depth. The system aims to allow players to shape their characters in such a way that they can take on certain roles in combat depending on their equipment.
More specializations will be possible
To take on even more specific roles in combat, new equipment items have been introduced. The introduction of light and heavy armor sets, as well as a complete overhaul of the spells on items and weapons, enriches the combat. Until now, the individual “builds” played very similarly, which is supposed to change due to the revision.
Light armors ensure that, for example, damage is boosted. Someone wearing light armor and using daggers as weapons will become a deadly assassin. On the other hand, those wearing heavy armor can withstand a lot of damage and can therefore plunge directly into battle to prevent, for example, wizards from casting their spells. A new video explains exactly how the revised combat will play out.
If you want to try this yourself, you can participate in the closed beta of the German sandbox MMORPG Albion Online starting November 23.
