World of Warcraft is full of cool toys. We show you the 5 best and reveal what great combinations there are.
In World of Warcraft, there is seemingly endless stuff to do and numerous things to collect. In addition to mounts, pets, and equipment, there is another tab in the collection: the toys. There are now far more than 600 of these, which greatly vary in their effects. We present to you the 5 coolest of them and reveal how to get them.
Rank 5: Soul Inhaler
What does the Soul Inhaler do? You can use this toy on most dead beings. This includes both mobs and allied and enemy players, as long as they are dead. Your character grows wings and sucks out the soul of the target. The corpse of the target shrinks and becomes colorless, while your character feasts on the soul of the target. The corpse remains in this sucked-out state until the player resurrects or the corpse disappears in another way.
Exception: Like many toys of this type, the Soul Inhaler cannot be used in raids.
How do you get the Soul Inhaler? The Soul Inhaler drops from the rare mob Tor’goroth in Frostfire Ridge (Draenor) at coordinates 44 / 9. However, the toy is not a guaranteed drop, appearing only about 14% of the time. It may take multiple visits to obtain the toy.
What cool combinations are there? Many. There are other items that you can only use on defeated enemies (or players). Among the best is Narassin’s Soul Gem and the Gin-Ji’s Blade set. With this, you can chop up the previously sucked-out corpse and turn it into a small lump of meat. Perfect for humiliating the victim a little more or teasing a fellow player.
Rank 4: Gnarlwood Waveboard
What does the Gnarlwood Waveboard do? When used, the Waveboard gives you a buff for 10 minutes. When the character enters the water, they suddenly stand on a surfboard and can glide over the water. The board has no cooldown, so you can basically maintain this buff permanently.
How do you get the Gnarlwood Waveboard? You can buy the Gnarlwood Waveboard for 300 Seafarer’s Doubloons. You earn these by visiting island expeditions. It is sold by Captain Zen’taga (Dazar’alor, Horde) or Captain Klarisa (Boralus, Alliance) – directly next to the registration for the island expeditions.
What cool combinations are there? Generally, none significant. The Waveboard allows you to “stand” on water and fish there. Thus, it is helpful for anyone who wants to fish in open water and has no other means of water walking. Plus, surfing is cool enough in itself, right?
Rank 3: Arena Master’s War Horn
What does the Arena Master’s War Horn do? When used, the War Horn summons two different ogres – one red and one blue. After a few seconds, the ogres rush toward each other and beat each other to death. When one of the two ogres wins, the other ogre bows to the player who used the item.
How do you get the Arena Master’s War Horn? You can easily get the War Horn by looting it in the open world. Go to Frostfire Ridge (Draenor) at coordinates 23 / 25. The War Horn lies on the throne, which you can simply take for yourself.
What cool combinations are there? The toy does not combine with many things, but can be a great solution when there is disagreement in the group. Two people arguing over loot or which dungeon to tackle next? Let the ogres decide for you by betting on red or blue. That’s much funnier and more entertaining than rolling dice because you can root for the outcome, and occasionally the initially losing ogre wins at the last moment.
P.S: Never bet on blue, trust me.
Rank 2: Love Boat
What does the Love Boat do? The Love Boat can be used on all water surfaces that have a certain depth. When used, a pink boat appears along with a gondolier. Another player can click the boat and be taken on a (hopefully) romantic boat ride. The player who summoned the boat decides the direction of the ride, while hearts continuously appear over both participants.
How do you get the Love Boat? You can only earn the Love Boat during the “Love is in the Air” festivities, which takes place every year around Valentine’s Day (February 14). It costs 270 Love Tokens there. Once purchased, the boat can be used throughout the year.
What cool combinations are there? None significant. But that doesn’t have to be the case, because the Love Boat is meant to provide peace, relaxation, and a bit of togetherness. Maybe you can even use it to bribe the guild leader to get more loot on the next raid …
Rank 1: Reflecting Prism
Okay, okay. Strictly speaking, the Reflecting Prism is not a toy, but a consumable item. However, its effect is versatile and simply grand in combination with toys, which is why it deserves the first place. You will quickly understand why.
What does the Reflecting Prism do? The prism can be applied to a group or raid member. The item must be channeled for a moment, after which both players swap appearances for 5 minutes. Both the user of the prism and the target can cancel this early by clicking away the corresponding buff – then they revert to their original appearance.
How do you get the Reflecting Prism? The prism can be crafted by jewelers and bought and sold at the auction house. A single prism has 50 charges and requires only one Magical Fire to craft. This is a resource that you are practically “swamped” with in Warlords of Draenor. So, it is very inexpensive to produce.
What cool combinations are there? Virtually endless. You can swap appearances at any time. The swapped form retains its appearance in combat and is not interrupted. Here are some examples:
- A group member is transformed into a sandstone dragon. Copy their appearance and fight as a giant dragon!
- A demon hunter is in metamorphosis form. Copy their appearance and be in metamorphosis yourself for 5 minutes. This could lead to confusion if suddenly a holy priest stands in demon form casting healing spells.
- A healing druid has used their bear form (or any other form). Grab their appearance and become the first ranged-damage bear in history.
The appearance swap is almost always possible. If you have a helper who also has a prism, you can even give the entire raid the same appearance. Just like in this screenshot, where we went into the Night Fortress as many dragons:
In theory, you could also spend an entire raid in giant tree form. We have explained how you can become a tree yourself here.
Special Mention: Transmorphersignal
This toy did not make it into the top 5, mainly for one reason: It is a shop item. The Transmorphersignal costs €10 and can only be obtained through a purchase in the shop. It’s cool, but due to the real-money price, we did not include it on the list.
What does the Transmorphersignal do? The Transmorphersignal summons an astral being that stays in place for a few minutes and can be interacted with by allies. Players then transform into one of numerous past bosses from World of Warcraft. The bosses also feature unique sound effects and comment on various actions – for example, when the player attacks, kills, or is killed. The disguise lasts for 20 minutes, persists beyond death, and can be renewed every hour.
How do you get the Transmorphersignal? You throw money at the problem and buy it for €10 in the Battle.net shop. Alternatively, you can buy a WoW Token with gold and exchange it for Battle.net currency to finance it that way. In the end, however, a € price is always due.
What combinations are there? Almost none. After using the Transmorphersignal, only a few toys function. For example, it is not possible to use a reflecting prism to give other players the appearance of a boss.
