What kind of game is this? Final Fantasy XIV started with a reboot in 2013 and is now among the largest MMORPGs. Today, you can enjoy dozens of hours of story, numerous areas, challenging dungeons and raids, and a strong crafting system.
Especially fans of other Final Fantasy titles will be satisfied because the imaginative world is filled with familiar characters, Easter eggs, and Chocobos. But even for the standard MMORPG fan, there are many content options that will keep you engaged for years.
With its 8 races and now 19 different jobs – classes that can be switched and leveled anytime with a character – you have the choice of various playstyles. In addition, there are dungeons, raids, a very strong crafting system, and housing.
What does it do well in PvE? One of the central aspects of FFXIV is undoubtedly the story of the MMORPG. The storytelling is epic and unfolds increasingly with the expansions. Players start as simple adventurers and slowly work their way up to true heroes. Along the way, you will uncover old mysteries, find new friends among NPCs, and fight powerful foes.
There are also many dungeons and raids, which can be quite challenging at times. If you do not master your rotations here, you will quickly find yourself struggling. Alongside WoW and Lost Ark, this MMORPG offers the best raids in the entire genre.
What does it do poorly in PvE? The entry and leveling through the old areas can be a bit sluggish. Though the process has been significantly accelerated overall, and essentially by just following the main story you can quickly access the first expansions, Final Fantasy XIV is somewhat lacking in dynamism in this regard – also in combat.
Some players may also not appreciate diving into the colorful, Japanese world. The quirky creatures, outfits, and storylines do not appeal to every type of player.
