Harry Potter and Voldemort as a couple? That sounds quite absurd. After all, the whole story is actually about their enmity. Including numerous murder attempts against the still underage Harry. The ship is therefore not without controversy, yet still quite popular.
Most often, it revolves around a romantic relationship between Harry and Tom Riddle, meaning the young Voldemort. In an alternative universe, Harry travels back in time, meets young Tom, and they develop a romantic or friendly relationship.
Fans ship them partly because they have a lot in common. Both are very ambitious and goal-oriented. They both grew up unhappily under Muggles and found their first real home at Hogwarts. Later, their wands also share a special connection. And of course, at some point, a part of Voldemort’s soul will inhabit Harry. Due to these numerous parallels, many fans say that Tom and Harry were the only ones who could truly understand each other.
