No star shines as brightly in the fanfiction sky as “Wolfstar”. The couple consists of Remus Lupin, the werewolf, and Sirius Black. The name Sirius is derived from the Sirius star, which can be found in the constellation “Great Dog”. This fits, as Sirius can transform into a large black dog as an Animagus.
Not only do dog and wolf go well together, but so do Sirius and Lupin. Both were part of the “Marauders” during their school days, and have been close friends ever since. They complement each other perfectly: Sirius is daring and reckless, while Lupin is more reserved and reasonable.
Before the release of all the books, many fans assumed that the two were meant to represent a couple in official lore. Even the actors Gary Oldman and David Thewlis have said in an interview that they initially thought they were playing a romantic couple.
However, in part 6, Lupin ends up with Tonks, debunking this theory. Yet this did not stop fans from continuing to celebrate Sirius and Lupin as a ship. This was further fueled by a quote from the third film, where Snape describes the two as a bickering old married couple. No wonder that Sirius and Lupin landed in the first place on this list.
What stands out? Harry appears three times on the list. This is hardly surprising, as he is the main character of the series. Following are Draco, Hermione, and James with two placements each.
Especially popular seem to be dark love stories. In five of the ten places, at least one Death Eater appears. At least if you include Draco, who receives the Dark Mark later.
