The MMORPG Elyon sounds increasingly interesting as more information is released. You should definitely keep an eye on this online game.
What is Elyon? The MMORPG evolved from the online role-playing game AIR: Ascent Infinite Realm. While AIR mainly focused on air battles, the emphasis is now more on classic MMORPG elements.
You explore a vast world, complete quests, engage in fast-paced, active battles against monsters, and can also fight each other in PvP. Elyon appears more like a TERA 2 in the new version. No wonder, the MMORPG comes from the same developers.
An interesting MMORPG
What is interesting about the game? The well-known YouTuber and MMORPG expert The Lazy Peon has released a new video on Elyon after his insight into the beta of AIR. In it, he explains why the online game has become significantly more interesting with the new version.
- For one, he praises the faster combat system, which forgoes tab targeting. The encounters are quick, exciting yet still tactical.
- He also praises the focus on ground battles, as in AIR players could simply avoid tough fights with the airship.
- He is especially fond of the RvR battles. Through gates, you enter the areas where you then fight in PvP battles.
- The entire onboarding has been revised. While you had to endure a kind of tutorial for 10 hours in AIR, you now reach the actual core game much faster.
What are the remaining problems? However, there are still a few things that The Lazy Peon – as well as players who were able to check out the Korean beta – are still criticizing.
- Elyon uses Unreal Engine 3, which has already shown in other MMORPGs like Bless Online that it has problems in large online games. Since Unreal Engine 5 has now been announced, it simply doesn’t seem contemporary to release an MMORPG with UE3. This could pose some issues for the game’s future, as according to The Lazy Peon it may not age well. However, the graphics look better than expected for Unreal Engine 3.
- Elyon is extremely grind-heavy. You need to invest a lot of time to level up your character for the PvP battles.
- It is currently still unclear how significant Pay2Win elements will be. However, The Lazy Peon expects us to have to reckon with Pay2Win.
Who is Elyon suitable for? As The Lazy Peon explains in his video, PvE elements do not play a major role. They are present but are not the focus of the MMORPG. This is on the PvP and RvR battles.
Elyon is therefore aimed more at those who love PvP and enjoy competing with other players or participating in territorial battles. If you are looking for a purely PvE game, Elyon is not the right choice.
Additionally, you need to enjoy grinding and be into fast, active fights. If this principle appeals to you, then Elyon could become a very interesting MMORPG, especially if it is expected to be released in Germany in 2021.
