In Teamfight Tactics the new set 8 “Monsters Attack” will be released on December 7. With patch 12.23 many champions, attributes, and items will change. We at MeinMMO will tell you the three best champion comps for the start of the set.
What changes with patch 12.23? The game mechanics remain basically the same, but the existing champions, their attributes, the items, and also the augmentations will change. You can find an initial overview of all important changes here:
So that you are not completely clueless at the start of set 8, we have selected three simple but simultaneously strong champion combos with which you can jump right into the game.
Oxforce, Renegade
Which champions are used?
- Camille – ADMIN/Renegade
- Alistar – Ox Force/Mascot/Aegis
- Talon – Ox Force/Renegade
- Fiora – Ox Force/Duelist
- Viego – Ox Force/Renegade
- Zed – LaserCorps/Duelist/Hacker – with item Ox Force
- Le Blanc – ADMIN/Spellslinger/Hacker
- Aphelios – Ox Force/Sureshot/Arsenal
These attributes are used by the combo:
- 6 Ox Force
- 3 Renegade
- 2 ADMIN
- 2 Duelist
- 2 Hacker
- 1 Arsenal
What items does the combo need? The combo focuses on Viego and Zed as carries:
- Viego plays with Bloodthirster, Deathcap, and Ionic Spark.
- On Zed, you build Runaans Hurricane and Titans Resolve. Additionally, you build the spatula item for Ox Force or hope for an augmentation that gives you one more Ox Force.
How does the early game go? You start with Ox Force champions like Talon, Fiora, and Camille and build a frontline, for example from brawlers or later with Alistar in front. After that, you gradually fill in with Ox Force.
You can actually reach the top 4 without the Ox Force emblem. However, you should then switch to 4 Ox Force and 3 Hacker.
What is the gold plan? You standardly wait for 50 gold, try to reach level 6 in round 3-2, level 7 in 4-1, and level 8 in 5-1.
Duelist, Super
Which champions are used?
- Gankplank – Super/Duelist
- Lee Sin – Super/Heart/Brawler
- Malphite – Super/Mascot
- Kayle – Underground/Duelist or Nilah Star Guardian/Duelist
- Fiora – Ox Force/Duelist
- Yasuo – LaserCorps/Duelist
- Vayne – Anima Squad/Recon/Duelist
- Zed – LaserCorps/Duelist/Hacker
These attributes are used by the combo:
- 6 Duelist
- 3 Supers
What items does the combo need? There are two options for playing the build. One time Yasuo takes on the role of the carry, which is especially strong in the early and mid game. For those playing for first place, it is better to use Vayne as carry. We recommend:
- Vayne sets her items to Guinsoos Rageblade, Giant Slayer, and Runaans Hurricane.
- Malphite becomes a tank with Warmogs, Dragonsclaw, and Gargoyle Stoneplate.
- Further carry items can be given optionally to Yasuo or Zed. Zed is particularly happy to have the Rapid Firecanon.
How does the early game go? At the beginning, you rely on four duelists. This is quite easy since Gankplank and Kayle only cost 1 gold and Fiora and Yasuo cost 2 gold. Once you have the three Super characters together, you switch the combo to 3 Supers and 2-4 Duelists. This way you should get through the early game comfortably.
What is the gold plan? You save the usual 50 gold, level to level 6, and then start rolling for champions. For the combo, it is important that you get as many champions to level 3 as possible, preferably all – except for Zed. Of course, you should always try to stay above 50 gold whenever possible.
A 3-star Vayne usually secures you the first place.
Admin, Spellslinger
Which champions are used?
- Blitzcrank – Admin/Brawler
- Camille – Admin/Renegade
- Soraka – Admin/Heart
- LeBlanc – Admin/Hacker/Spellslinger
- Annie – Spellslinger/Gadgeteen/Ox Force
- Sejuani – LaserCorps/Brawler
- Sona – Underground/Heart/Spellslinger
- Janna – Civilian/Spellslinger/Forecaster
These attributes are used by the combo:
- 4 Admin
- 4 Spellslinger
- 1 Forecaster
- 2 Brawler
- 2 Heart
- 1 Civilian
What items does the combo need? The combo focuses on Soraka as the carry and Annie as the tank:
- Soraka uses the items Blue Buff, Hextech Gunblade, and Statikk Shiv or Giant Slayer
- Annie uses the items Warmogs, Bramble Vest, Gargoyle Stoneplate
How does the early game go? To play the combo, you need a good Admin effect. You get this when you activate the synergy for the first time. Then you have three effects to choose from, which vary from game to game and player to player.
Strong effects are:
- On cast gain … stacking Ability Power
- On cast gain … Gain Mana
- Upon dropping below 40 percent Health … gain a percent max Health shield
In the early game, you already rely on Blitzcrank and Camille. A combo with 3 Renegades is also possible or other mages who can hold the items for Soraka well.
What is the gold plan? You should quickly accumulate 50 gold and reach level 6 at State 3-2. Soraka is your carry, so you should reach level 7 or 8 in time. However, you don’t have to bring any particular champion to level 3, although Annie as a tank at level 3 is very useful.
Aegis, Civilian
Which champions are used?
- Galio – Civilian/Mascot
- Alistar – Ox Force/Mascot/Aegis
- Ekko – Star Guardian/Prankster/Aegis
- Leona – Mecha: PRIME/Renegade/Aegis
- Sivir – Civilian/Sureshot
- Aphelios – Ox Force/Sureshot/Arsenal
- Janna – Civilian/Forecaster/Spellslinger
- Urgot – Threat
- Fiddlesticks – Corrupted/Threat
These attributes are used by the combo:
- 3 Aegis
- 3 Civilian
- 1 Forecaster
- 1 Arsenal
- 1 Corrupted
- 2 Mascot
- 2 Ox Force
- 2 Sureshot
What items does the combo need? In this combo, Aphelios is the carry and Ekko is the maintank:
- Aphelios focuses on the items Infinity Edge, Giant Slayer, and optionally Last Whisper or Guinsoos Rageblade.
- Ekko should be played with Gargoyle Stoneplate and Sunfire Cape.
How does the early game go? In the early game, there are various paths since you can’t buy much in advance for your final combo. One option would be to focus on Underground and grab as many items as possible during the heist. To start, you fight with Vi, Ezreal, and Kayle. Later you add to the combo – if possible – with Samira and Sona.
Alternatively, there is the option to start with a Mascot frontline and place Sivir and Senna as carries in the backline. An opening with Brawler is also possible. Vayne and Samira are both excellent to carry Aphelios’s items and then be replaced by him.
What is the gold plan? You should quickly reach 50 gold and then primarily use the gold for leveling. At level 7, your chances of getting Samira increase significantly, and you might also get a first legendary champion with a bit of luck.
Overall, you aim to reach level 9 by around round 5-5. Then you can send Fiddlesticks or Urgot as the last characters to the field.
Bel’Veth Carry
Which champions are used?
- Cho’Gath – Threat
- Zac – Threat
- Bel’Veth – Threat
- Aurelion Sol – Threat
- Vel’Koz – Threat
- Janna – Civilian/Forecaster/Spellslinger
- Urgot – Threat
- Fiddlesticks – Corrupted/Threat
These attributes are used by the combo:
- 7 Threat
- 1 Civilian
- 1 Corrupted
- 1 Forecaster
What items does the combo need? Your carry is Bel’Veth followed by Aurelion Sol as the AP carry. Zac, on the other hand, is your tank:
- Bel’Veth needs Rapid Firecanon, Last Whisper, and Titan’s Resolve.
- Aurelion Sol focuses on Spear of Shoshin and Rabadons Deathcap.
- Zac uses the usual tank items like Warmogs, Stoneplate, or Bramble Vest.
How does the early game go? Here you are quite free. It’s best to choose one of the three paths.
Number 1: Play the best board and try to maintain a long win streak.
Number 2: Play a weak board and have a losing streak.
Number 3: Use Underground and get more items and gold from the heist.
What is the gold plan? You collect 50 gold and level as early as possible. Level 6 in round 3-2, level 7 in 4-1, and level 8 in 5-1. From level 7, you start to slowly switch to threats. You can aim for level 9, which increases your chance for legendaries, or try to get Aurelion Sol and Cho’Gath to level 3.
The combo is particularly worthwhile when you receive the augment “Threat Level Maximum.” How powerful this can be, as shown by the lead designer of TFT, Mortdog, in a video:
Other strong combos at a glance
What other combos exist? There is a LaserCorps combo with directly 9 champions with the attribute. However, you need the right augment for this. Alternatively, LaserCorps can also be played with Ashe as the carry and as many 3-star champions as possible. It plays similarly to Duelist-Super from this guide.
A strong reroll build with Lux as the carry can work well if you get the right hero augment. Lux then deals a lot of damage.
Zoe as a carry can also be very strong, but you need to give her the heart item first. In combination with Soraka and the right Admin bonus, she is then hard to defeat.
Currently, the Mecha: PRIME builds are considered rather weak. They are usually only worth it if you have a suitable augment for them.
