The Guardian Takedown in Borderlands 3 has really pushed players to their limits. This caused criticism – to which Gearbox responded with a hotfix.
Unusual timing for a hotfix: Borderlands 3 usually releases a new hotfix or patch every Thursday to address issues or introduce new content. However, the current hotfix came overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday and aims to solve an issue in the Guardian Takedown:
Today we will release a hotfix for #Borderlands3 that will be live by 2PM PT. This update significantly reduces enemy mob health in Takedown at the Guardian Breach. pic.twitter.com/pFdVcUkePH

The hotfix is expected to noticeably reduce the health points of enemies in the Guardian Takedown. This should make at least parts of the Takedown easier to handle, as the bullet sponges have given many players quite a hard time. However, that wasn’t the only point of criticism.
Will the Takedown be further changed?
This is the situation: After the Takedown was introduced with the last major patch along with several changes, many players dove into the new challenge, which is intentionally designed to be difficult. But it quickly became clear that the Takedown is quite merciless – apparently too merciless.
In addition to the bullet sponges, players criticized the tough jumping sections with invisible targets. Also, a sequence where crystals need to be charged led to quick deaths because it wasn’t clear that multiple had to be attended to at the same time. There are also plenty of immunity phases in boss fights. Has Gearbox gone too far here?
In any case, the current hotfix might only be the first of several changes. Already over the weekend, the Borderlands 3 Twitter channel announced that “a few adjustments” will be made:
Thank you to everyone who has played Takedown at the Guardian Breach since the patch! We have some adjustments in the works based on player feedback, starting with a reduction to enemy health early next week. More info to come! pic.twitter.com/dykqSW6z7p

The reduction of enemy health points should, according to the tweet, be the first step. To what extent the rest of the Takedown will be adjusted remains to be seen.
It is possible that the next hotfix, expected to arrive on Thursday, will also deal with the Takedown. By the way, the story will continue in just over a week: the next Borderlands 3 DLC is set to transport you to a Wild West world.
