Subnautica 2 is set to be continuously developed as part of an Early Access. Everything known about the progression and upcoming content can be read here.
Is there a roadmap? So far, there is no official roadmap for the Early Access of Subnautica 2. However, in mid-2025 a document was leaked on Reddit that reportedly shows some content and milestones of the survival game in the original EA timeframe before the delay. The authenticity of this document was later confirmed by the publisher Krafton.
While it is currently unclear whether the content of the document is still accurate, it does indicate trends of what might be expected. Additionally, you have the opportunity to influence via the Nolt website regarding which changes are also to be considered.
We will show you which contents the previously leaked documents hint at.
Subnautica 2: Upcoming Content and Plans
What milestones were in the document? According to the document, the following content could be the focus in upcoming updates:
- 10 chapters of story overall with an average of 10 hours of gameplay each
- New regions
- New special locations
- New creatures
- New Leviathans
- Additional playable characters
- Pest as a status
- New tools and equipment
- New vehicle types
- New adaptation systems
- New submarines
- New biomods
- Mining
- Automation
- Farming system
- Creative mode
- Cross-progression
Some of the mentioned points could also already be part of the game at the start of Early Access, be completely removed, or changed, as these were leaked internal documents.
