At the beginning, inventory space and hotbar slots are limited in Subnautica 2. We will show you how to enlarge your pockets.
How to expand the inventory and hotbar? To increase both, you need to interact with the terminals at the biobeds of past pioneers. You will usually find black boxes nearby that you should activate.
Currently, there are 5 options available to expand your mobile storage. It may take a while, but it’s worth it, which is why you should focus on this early on.
Where to find the upgrades? You should visit the following locations if you want to secure the upgrades:
| Biobed | Location |
|---|---|
| 1 | – About 150 meters northeast of your escape pod – You will find a visible current nearby, let it carry you – Nearby is a tunnel with red seaweed, inside you will find the biobed |
| 2 | – Near the waypoint “Old Base” – Look for a blue light stick in the ground – Near Chap’s black box |
| 3 | – About 240 meters southeast of your escape pod – Swim down the rock pillar to find the entrance |
| 4 | – About 270 meters southwest of your escape pod – Swim down the rock wall until you find an entrance |
| 5 | – About 500 meters east of your escape pod – The entrance is right next to a rock Note: For this upgrade, you need the enhancement “Heat Tolerance” |
Are there other options? Yes, you can also use portable lockers to relieve your storage while on the go. You will have to hold it in your hand and pick it up and drop it repeatedly, but it can be worthwhile, especially for farming tours for ores and the like.
You will often find such lockers in old bases and caves or you can even craft them later yourself.
