Dead Island 2 has a rather simple story but parodies many well-known L.A. clichés in side quests and the environment. You encounter Hollywood stars or an influencer house full of protein powder and apology scripts for videos.
However, the main focus of Dead Island 2 is its gameplay. Those with a weak stomach should steer clear of the game, as there is a lot of blood and gore. You hack your way through hordes of zombies using all sorts of utensils.
The focus is primarily on melee weapons, which you can upgrade with various gadgets. For example, you can upgrade weapons with fire or electricity, which alters the combat against the zombies.
You can and should do all of this for maximum chaos and maximum fun with friends in co-op mode. However, there is no cross-progression or crossplay with the console versions. PC users can play together on Epic and Steam.
