The god MMO Skyforge launches in Russia on March 26.
We are approaching Skyforge’s second Closed Beta, while in Russia it is actually already happening and the official release is approaching, as indicated by a message on the Russian site for Skyforge. This is one of the rare cases where an MMORPG announced for “2015” actually starts that early.
On March 26, Skyforge will begin in Russia for the owners of a special edition, which is the head start. Everyone else will start on April 3.
This is a good sign for those who are also hoping for a soon release here in the West. Our version differs from the Russian one “only” in localization, and there have already been some advances made. So it could also happen here soon.
Questions remain, as with any MMO, whether the game is ready and has enough content to keep players engaged long-term. This is hard to assess in advance. It mainly depends on how well an MMO studio manages the transition from “We are developing in peace” to “We are performing surgery on an open heart” and can deliver game content afterward. In 2014 and still in 2015, several western studios like Carbine with WildStar, Bungie with Destiny, and currently Turtle Rock Studios with Evolve have struggled with this transition.
