The currently still secret shooter from a Borderlands developer has already secured a budget of 18 million euros. It only took a 20-minute demo for that.
Which developer is being referred to here? Paul Sage has previously worked as Creative Director on The Elder Scrolls Online and Borderlands 3. Along with other developers, he founded Ruckus Games, where he takes on the role of CEO and Game Director.
The game, which has no official name yet, is a co-op shooter for up to four players. So far, there has been no gameplay shown, but the developers promise crazy weapons and quirky characters à la Borderlands:
Do you want to play a cool, cooperative third-person shooter with unique style, humor, explosive action, and some of the silliest weapons of all time? We wanted it. That’s why we’re making it!

Game impresses investors with gameplay demo
So far, only potential investors have had the chance to view the game. However, they are said to have been so excited after just a 20-minute demo that they readily provided 19 million US dollars, roughly 18 million euros, for the game’s development.
What is the game about? In a press release on ruckus-games.com, the developers reveal more details about the story and show the first screenshots. You take on the role of ordinary people defending their hometown in the heart of the USA from mysterious attacks.
The game is said to offer a wide range of playable characters and “thousands of unique improvised weapon combinations.” A pressure washer can quickly turn into a flamethrower, and your toaster shoots saw blades instead of bread.
On ruckus-games.com, you can already sign up for future playtests. Once they are online, you can get your own impression of the game.
Currently, Gearbox, the studio behind Borderlands, is fully focused on the fourth installment. It was teased at gamescom 2024. According to studio founder Randy Pitchfork, they may have been developing another game as well.
