Exodus already looks like the perfect successor to Mass Effect. A new trailer has SciFi fans drooling.
RPG fans of various genres have been enjoying themselves immensely in recent months. Action fans are thrilled with Path of Exile 2 while story fans are playing Baldur’s Gate 3 for the 97th time, and Dragon Age has received a new installment with “The Veilguard”.
Yet, fans of Mass Effect are still waiting for more information about Part 5. However, another game might steal the title’s thunder. Because “Exodus,” developed by many former BioWare veterans, appears to be exactly what SciFi fans might wish for as the next evolution.
What can be seen in the trailer? The trailer titled “The Traveler’s Creed” showcases a lot of gameplay from the game – including not just battles, but also apparent story sequences and various weapons, and especially the quite impressive graphics.
In particular, the appearance of the characters and the design likely evoke nice memories of Mass Effect – aside from the aliens. Because they have clear “animal” traits. For instance, one boss fight features a large bear, while another creature appears to be a frog. However, these are not aliens in the traditional sense, but rather evolutions of humanity that have been given centuries and millennia of manipulation to develop new traits. The exact reasons will probably be revealed throughout the story.
What is Exodus about? Exodus tells the story of the “Traveller.” This character seeks numerous relics that could benefit humanity. He holds considerable political power and can influence how these artifacts should be used. This is particularly exciting due to the theme of time dilation.
Because the Traveler often skips several years or decades, allowing time and the entire galaxy to evolve. People who were just supported have aged by years – or have been replaced by many new generations. Thus, one shapes the cosmos over a long period with one’s own decisions.
When will Exodus be released? There is no official release date for Exodus yet. However, one indication is the possibility to become a “Founder” for the game and support it early on. This is – as of now – only possible until August 30, 2025. Thus, the game is likely still at least 8 months away from release, but potentially much longer.
How do you like what you’ve seen of Exodus so far? Do you think the game can satisfy the hunger that the original “Mass Effect” trilogy left in you? Or would you rather not get caught up in the hype and pretty trailers?
