The Cursed Technique
Even though we are in the year 2026, surprisingly many Sauercrowd streamers are still struggling with Blizzard’s server technology in WoW Classic. The hardcore world of the anniversary version is marked as “Full,” but it is not nearly as overcrowded as it was during the initial launch of WoW Classic in 2019 on various worlds.
DDoS attacks are not currently an issue. These are currently aimed more at the servers of Final Fantasy XIV. However, in several death clips from the Sauercrowd event, we see how participants get kicked out of WoW in the middle of a fight, such as VasSilly at level 20 on Twitch or PowerOfEvil at level 46 on Twitch.
A nervous log-in afterward often leads to frustration. At the character selection screen, only the deceased alter ego waves goodbye. The disappointment in such cases is more than understandable. After all, such a death wasn’t a player’s fault. Blizzard’s servers have failed.
Unfortunately, there is rarely any compensation from the developers for such unintentional deaths. Only when a server is affected on a large scale and many players have lost their hardcore character will compensation occur. Everyone else has to swallow the frustration and start over or avoid hardcore in the future.
